Just throwing around some ideas here... I have a Lanier Staudacher kit that I am going to be building this winter and was wondering if I could make it into a good flying biplane. My thought was to buy two set of wings from a 1/4 scale arf cap, extra, or edge and use those instead of the single wing for the Staudacher.
My goal is to make an aerobatic biplane like the ultimate. So far I have enjoyed doing 3D with my smaller biplanes than with the smaller edges, caps and extras. I figure with two 80" wings, the total square inches would be about 2000-2400 instead of the roughly 1650 of the original staudacher wing. I know it would be easier to buy an ultimate, but I already have the staudacher kit.
So what wing set do you think would make the best performer?

Why not use a set of Pitts Super Stinker wings, or some other proven bipe wing set if your going to spend the money anyway? I like your idea of doing something DIFFERENT for a change!!!

An 80 inch bipe? Wow! I know Ohio R/C (R.I.P.) had a 75 inch Ultimate (I think 33%). Maybe get a set of plans and stretch it to 80 inches. 2 1/2 inches each way per panel isn't much of a stretch. The wing is a swept from center wing with a constant chord. It actually is much simpler than an Extra or Cap wing. You talking 100 cc + engine? Also just a roumor that Hangar 9 has a 46% Ultimate ARF that mat one day be a reailty.

Here is a scale aerobatic bipe that is different from the norm.
