From: UK,
Considering a new plane for the winter. Don’t want to spend too much time building. Originally looked at the Hype3d, by Weston UK, and then came across the Capiche 50.
I have read a little about both and have saw the Hype 3d for real flying at the local field, but never saw the Capiche flying. Was considering the Irvine 53 possibly with a pipe for whichever model I choose.
What I want is an aircraft that will be very capable of 3d flying and also provide a good platform for pattern aerobatics.
Questions for those who can help
Capiche :- I see there is two wing options, do you really need to buy both to have an aircraft capable of doing 3d and aerobatics very well. (I assume you do but not sure)
Hype 3D :- There was some suggestions that kit quality and aircraft performance wasn’t as good in some of the versions. If so which ones are the ones to stay away from.
Finally which one do you suggest I buy ?

depends on what your looking for, the C50 is an artistic aerobat, the hype is a 3D funfly. My C50 will do all the pattern, and most 3D, but it isnt the best hovering machine out. its wing is "normal" so it does stall.
the hype is a 3D funfly, as in its got a huge fat wing, so it wont stall very easy, hovers nice but wont pattern very well
its up to you, i honestly prefer my C50 over my flip i had beofre it

No you dont need both wings for the C50. The FF wing is for those who really want a fun fly type plane (ie like the Hype). With the normal wing it is a fantastic allrounder, that will do anything in the right hands (The Boy has no trouble torque rolling his
). You do have to build it, but it is easy. If edible above can do it, so can anyone.
The Hype will never do the pattern stuff well, as it is a fun fly machine, but still flys very well, the winner of the standard class of the Freestyle comp last year was flying one. The issues were on the first batch of Hypes, the tail had a habit of folding, but I beleive that all is ok now.
