Hi,
I've built several of Dick's kits. I have an Elan, but I haven't finished it. The basic kits consist of a fiberglass fuselage and belly pan (very nice glass work and a straight fuselage!!); foam wing, stab and rudder cores; instructions. Dick has, in the past, offered his kits at greater levels of completion for additional $$. His airplanes all fly very well. FYI, I've had 6 Runarounds, 3 Elites, 2 Excesses and a Dalotel.
Go for it!!

180 flights on my Elan so far.

Fixed gear- 3/16 wire struts.
JR 8231's on all flight surfaces.
Overpowered w/ soft-mounted OS 140RX on a Bolly 480R muffler -- 8100 on a 14.5x12 4 blade prop.

Small amt of rudder-aileron mix to correct proverse roll. No other mixes.

- flies well.

Kit was excellent - cores straight, fuse and bellypan light and straight, very few pinholes, etc.
Several versions of the wing (single or double taper for example) available- Dick will make whatever you ask for.
Directions are fine for a pattern plane, and Dick responded immediately to the few questions i had.
Lots of good building techniques on his website

Thanks, Rick. I'll be ordering one of these soon. It's a great looking plane.
