I am about to get a twist and was curious to see what kind of engine anyone else has used. I saw the review video with the saito FA-82A in the twist, but i don't think i can afford that. I was thinking about a saito FA 80. I would like to put a big enough engine on it to make it hover, and i want to use a 4-stroke. Do you think a saito FA 72 or a OS FS70 surpass would be big enough? And is there any other hints or tips anyone can give me about the twist? Thanks!

I have a twist. My first engine was a os 46 ax with a 12.25 x 3.75 and that was plenty of power. Plenty wasn't enough and I put in a ys .63 If you can't affors the saito, I guess that rules out the ys but it is incredible! If you are trying to save $, the os 46 ax, 50 sx, enya 50 cx or super tigre 51

Looks like you just about have enough daylight to fly up there
I took the Jett-76L out of my Edge and put it into my old Pizzaz for some more development work. Runs great in there. Plane really likes the 14" prop out front. What a difference from the SJ-65 that was in there. I would imagine it would work very well in the Twist.
Look up some posts by Texan on his profile ship... he can give you a bit of background on his 76 as well.

bob27,
I think I will order the 76L for the Twist I'm working on now . I want to try some different mods on this one and the 76L should work great. I plan on using a APC 13x4w prop. Do you think the light pipe would be the way to go?.....Drop me a PM if you have any other tips that may help....JW

autoguns,
sent you a pm. But in short, the 13x4W may be too small. Engine has to remain below 12K rpm to perform best.
We typically run 14x4W or 14x6 props. The Zinger pro 14x4 works well too.
Mine turns the 14x4W and ProZ 14x4 at 11K rpm with the turbojett muffler, and just over 10k rpm with the lite-muffler.
It loads down nicely with the 14x6.
They run a lot like control line stunt engines
I'm not sure how the ground clearance works out on the Twist. But I manage to get the Pizzaz off the ground with the 14x4.

I have been reading alot about engines for the Twist just wanted some opinions on whether you guys think a Magnum 80 4S would fit and be a good choice for this plane. I also have a new OS 50sx that I could put in it. I am not really a good 3D pilot but won this plane in a raffle and am currently flying a Model Tech Magic Extra 300L ARF with an OS46sf. I like the xtra but again am not to good with the 3D stuff yet but working on it. Any opinions on the Magnum 80 or OS50 SX for the Twist would be appreciated.

I thinkthe 50 SX would be great! I had a 46 onmine but wanted more so I'm putting my OS 61fx on it. The 50 would be better, though, because it would be lighter.

The perfect engine for this plane is a Saito 72. The Saito 82 would be killer because there would be no weight gain to speak of. The 72 is not vetical limited. Hover to waterfall to hover is easy. Keep it light if you can, you will be able to tell the difference in how it flies.

Try out the .46 FX or AX with YS blend 20-20 fuel and use the tower muffler with the 11.5 x 4 APC prop and you will start to get decent hovering performance as long as the density altitude doesn't get too high. I was out yesterday flying in 50 degree weather and it rocked. The $15 tower muffler is worth a serious boost, and with 20 percent nitro, it performs like a stock .61 on 5 percent.
