I hate to scavenge but does anyone have a busted or broke chip hyde Double Vision that the hatch and canopy are still salvagable and would part with resonable?
I lost mine last weekend when the hatch latch broke in flight. Myself and some other freinds looked for the cowl but we think it went down into a inaccesable treeline.
Tom at chip hyde was very apoligetic for not having any in stock and it appears that it would be at least 60 days or so before they have any DVs in stock that they could rob one off of.
Really didn't seem to fly any different with the hatch but I am going to keep it grounded till there is one back on it.
thanks!!!!

Funny you mention that, the pin that slides back and forth on my latch broke also at teh threaded hole where the trigger pin screws into it. I was afraid I would have to cut and ultimately tear up the turtle deck putting a new one in, but luckilly, I got a new latch and I was able to unthread it from the pin, remove it from the new housing and put back in, in the housing still in the plane. I just locktighted it and hopefully it wont break.
I was able to get my hatch back though. I was flying in Fayetteville, NC when it happened and it was just off of the runway.
I will check to see if i know of anyone that may or may not have a hatch.
You know, except for the canopy, it really would not be that hard to scratch one. Just trace the deck area ahead of the hatch, make two formers, the rear deck, frame, sheet, sand and cover.

Anthony I would appreciate that. Im going to give it a few more days and see if anyone can spare one, if not, i'll either have to do the scratch build thing or just put it up till CHyde gets some in.
thanks!
