I've flown sport planes and warbirds for years and have decided I want to try a pattern plane. Is an Edge 540 a good choice to start out with? Could someone recomend a 540 kit (or ARF) that would match well with my webra speed .61 or
saito 1.20? Thanks. Randy

Does that AeroWorks 60/90 Edge come in a kit? I only see it in ARF form. Seems like it would be a good size! I'm going to build the 25% AW Edge, but the 60/90 size has its appeal if I can get it in a kit. So, does it come in a kit or only ARF?
Thanks!

Thanks for the info guys
RPLUMBO-
From looking at their website looks like the 60/90 is only an ARF, I would prefer a kit myself

Hey lenough-
How did your Edge wind up so light? 9.5lbs seems nice and light, I've been hearing other weights of around 11 pounds. Did you do anything special? Glues? Pushrods? Servos? Engine?
Thanks!
Reid

Hi rkrig,
flying the aw60/90 540,have os91fx up front,15x6 zinger prop, sig 15% fuel, had to do a lot of mods. to get it below 8#,needs os 108 to fly out of a hover, knife edge like a brick, super stable plane will do any trick in the book except a long knife edge, comes as arf only, would not buy this plane again.

Reid,
Did nothing special. It is just a lightly built plane. If you put it next to the Lanier Edge, It looks smaller. The wing chord is shorter than the Lanier and the fuselage is slimmer.
I have the Saito 150, 2 elevator servos in the tail, pull-pull rudder.
I added flying wires to the tail. That's about it. Built 3 years ago.
Here is a picture of it. I got the decals from AW also.

What does your elevator look like? Do the sides of the stab move as well (sort of forming an "L" shape on either elevator) or is your elevator just a straight line across the stab? I've heard this referred to as a 3D elevator/stab. Let me know if you can't understand my vague descriptions!

My friend bought the AW 60/90 Edge and powered it with a YS .91. I flew this plane alot and although it was good, it was NOT great. It was HEAVY at over nine pounds - replace the gear and save more than a 1/4 lb I bet.
The plane was just NOT capable for the type of flight we like. He has sold it and won't buy another one. Cannot recommend
