The competition entry form is now due, you can get it [link=http://www.zen33329.zen.co.uk/_private/Freestyle%20Entry%20Form%202005.pdf]here[/link]
We also need general information about each pilot (including mugshot) for the event program, this is needed ASAP to give us time to produce it. this can be emailed to me direct ([email protected])
Terry would also like each pilot to create a short CV (to bring on the day) for the commentator to read out before each flight.
Hope this answers your questions

Great new guys, I can now confirm that Duncan Osbourn (winner of 3D masters) will be giving us a 3D heli demonstration during one of the breaks between rounds.

T W keeping you all informed as we fast approach event date, again!
At current time we've now 8 entries, well done all! That's an improvement on previous years's pre-entry. Obviously if this event is to progress to another level, pre-entry will be mandatory to allow all the administrative processes to be completed prior to the event as is really necessary. Consequently pre-entry will be the only way of taking part competitively as indeed it is with any professional sport.

i know it has been asked before, but i dont think answered.
Will we get marks for flying in time to our music?
The vast majority were in favour of this last year (including the winner), but I dont see any provision for it in ths year's judges' mark schemes.
Flights like this are a lot more entertaining, so surely there should be some incentive for competitiors to do this rather than just slapping on a song and flying a normal freestyle flight.

RE: British Freestyle Champ's 2005- RCM&E
hi,
ive got a few more questions about the fixed schedule,
In the first maneuver, do you get marked down for drifting downwind in a flat spin? Also when you pull out are you meant to dive vertical a bit like in pattern or can you go straight to level? also I was thinking about starting my flat spin from the middle rail not the top, does this matter?
when there are options for the number of rolls etc to use, do you get a higher k factor for doing a harder combination? e.g. if i do a 3 roll circle with opposite roll directions do i get more points than if i do a 4 roll circle rolling 1 way?
Do any of the judges read this forum? i would like to know what they think as well as everyone else.

I emailed Terry your question, and heres what I got back.....
Drifting in wind during spins is unavoidable, (in my experience). When some 1 finds a solution they'll be world champions! If you can fly off a spin level & neatly, full marks I'd suggest. It's just a lot easier to exit vertical down for a short distance.
Spins can be inserted @ any height, depends on nerve I guess!
Rolling circles are all about neatness, not complexity so much.
Remember, if you are pleased with your effort, that's all you can do. Practice will make it better, in time. Then Judges marks will improve accordingly.

A south easterly wind is forecast. which way does that mean we will be flying? Right to left or left to right?
Cheers
Many thanks

Must admit that I tend to be better flying right to left for some reason... but hey, this is a comp with the (supposedly!) best smart-arse pilots in the country so it won't be a problem.
probably.

this is not an F3A comp!! you can fly it in any direction you want, it does not have to go the same way as you take off and you could take off downwind [:@]

I agree!
Fantastic flying Luke, a well deserved win
My commiserations to Simon – gutted on your behalf that you were scuppered by a doggy CD player…[:'(] Having seen you fly I honestly thought you were in with a genuine chance of winning.
Respect to all who entered!
C140 Brothers, I thought your flying had improved massively – watched you doing some stuff I wish I could fly[].
Bill.

A big congrats to all who entered (especially Luke and Martin), the pilots make this what it is and I hope you'll agree when I say that it was a big success (loved the late night shocky flying on sat :P, perhaps we could turn this into a sub event!! )
Im off to start fixing my (very wobbly) wings on the Codpiece

Luke's flying was a pleasure to judge well done!!
as for doggy CD Player, i think that is a bit unfair! that was the only CD that did not work. we offered Simon the choice of either 20 points for flying to music (max. points is 25) or to bring a car in and play the CD load from a car. both these he declined. so i can only assume the CD itself was a "duffer" i think all that was possible was done to put things right.

Hi everyone,
Just like to say that from only partial fixed wing experience (I was the one doing the dodgy impromtu commentary for Duncan Osborne's heli flying)... I had a really great day today and was very impressed by the abilites of these Pilots!
If you didn't go... then you sure missed a great event, with a great atmosphere and loads of great flying!
H,mmm.... maybe its time to ugrade the foamy and get my name down for 2006... do you have a rookie class?
RussD.
