Where's the balance CG on the Carl Goldberg Ultimate? My plan shows it 2 7/8 inch back from the leading edge of the wing at the center section. This just looks to be too far forward for the swept wings.

Thanks,Bill

I must have something else wrong.Yesterday,I tried to get the first flight on the Ultimate.I have it balanced at 2 7/8 back from the leading edge of the wing, with a YS 120 turning a 15X10 APC.The tail came up and I had plenty of speed, but it wouldn't go up.It went into the high grass and that was the end of the wheel pants.I had 5/8s throw on elevator and it didn't lift off.Maybe the wing incidence is off.

Thanks,Bill

You did balance it on the low wing didnt you? not the top? what you said purely demonstrated wign incidence really, as a forwrd centre of gravity would defintely have made this model nose over (if its got the same ground characteristics as mine!!)

Check the incidences if you can.

Also balance upside down on the lower wing, the measurements are right next to the fuse. from the leading edge

Paul,
That would be from the center point on the wing.

I balance mine 1 7/8 foreword of the front edge of the rear cabane. I have marks on the diagonal brace. Makes it easy to check....croz

Default Welsh3D on Goldberg Ultimate

Thanks Welsh3D,It turns out that the wing incidence was off.The bottom wing was at 0 but the trailing edge on the top wing was down.A 4-40 washer under the front of the top wing hold down at the center section got it pretty close.I couldn't go up with the trailing edge,so I went down with the leading edge.

Thanks again,Bill

Bill, let us know how the first flight goes. This is going to be my first Biplane and I'm curious to hear about your Maiden flight.
