Default Magic Formula 3D Engine Choice

Could anyone who has flown the YT (Modeltech) Magic Formula 3D give me some advice on engine choice?

I have a OS 91 surpass four stroke sitting idle awaiting a home. The specs for this model require a 70 four stroke. This would be my first 3d plane although I do have a fair amount of flying experience.

What is the performance like on a 70 size four stroke?

I know these have flown with a 90 size four stroke but am interested to know just how 'overpowered' this setup would be.

Thanks

Hi,

I have ordered my magic formula 3d today from Austria ( I couldnt track any LHS selling this plane in Switzerland). I intend to use magnum 91 xls ( 2 stroke ).

I will appreciate information regarding this plane with 2 stroke setups.

Thanks and regards.

The 70 weighs 22.4 ounces, the 90 weighs a little over 24.2 ounces. Both are good, strong, reliable engines. The 70 will swing a 14X4 with some authority for 3D, the 90 can handle a 15X4. If you like 4 strokes for 3d, you could have a good combo. Let us know how it works.

Happy landings.
