EF 68" Yak or H9 Funtana
Hey
I am looking for a new 3D plane and searching for advice. I have narrowed the options down to two : EF Yak and H9 Funtana. Right now Im leaning towards Yak side because everyone that has flown one simply loves it and because of the quality.
Whichever I choose will have a YS 1.10 and hitec 645/625 or 5645/5625 all around (I'm still unsure) with a mini on the throttle.
Im looking for people that might have both or might have flown both so they can comment on which has better flight characteristics (3D mainly). The plane is going to be mostly for 3D but I would like it to be able to do some pattern stuff as well.
Thank you.

I am still not sure if I will go with the digitals ($$) but I want to have strong servos in the tail. Maybe Ill use Hitec 475s for the ailerons.

The EF 68" Yak. There is no comparison. I have them both. The yak flies and it is built like nothing else. I don't want to Knock the F90 as it is a lot of plane for $209.00--But the Yak truly is in a league of it's own. I don't think the F90 compares at any level to the Yak, but one place it falls especially short is on its side with rudder control.--The Yak is incredible. Do yourself a favor.....you have the perfect motor for the Yak....treat yourself to the best by far.
One thing I like about the F90 is that I don't mind flying it in adverse flying conditions and I don't have any "pucker factor" when I fly it.
Servo City had 5625's for 47.50 to your door. Get those for whatever plane you choose. The digitals have better resolution & centering and you are only paying another $7.50 each for them---it is a long term investment.

RE: EF 68" Yak or H9 Funtana
They both are the same, except for the torque/speed differences... I have been
watching the HS 645's, HS 5645's(rudder) and the HS 5925's(all except throttle)
on two different F-90 And watching both fly I can't tell no difference. I know there
is a difference, But both like the servos that they are using... On Servo City both
HS 5625 and 45's are out of stock, But only the HS5645 show a discount... I had
a HS 5645 that came on my Yak, which is stll not repaired so I'm using it on my
UCD 46... And it has been working great!!.... I think the Yak is the way to go..
But I have not flown either, and only have seen the F90 fly... But read only good
on the Yak.... If you can wait on the E.F. Yak, And plan on not flying it in too much
wind.... Get the Yak...

Well I dont have the money for 5945s and probably won't have it any time soon (which is a couple of years lol).
Look like Ill be getting the Yak with 5645s then.
Also, will Hitec 475s be good for the ailerons or should I go with something stronger? I contacted Hitec and they said that it shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you.

EF recommends a min. of 90 oz. of torque per servo and due to control surface size they need to be metal gear servos. I see a lot of people who think that the weaker servos go on the wings [&o] These servos are important too (especially in harrier rolling), so I say go ahead and cough up the extra money for 5645's all the way around, you will thank yourself later.

I am in love with the yak .it is going to be my next plane ..I have pondered over the powerplant..I was leaning towards a satio 1.50 but I see lots of satidfied folks with 2 stroke OS 1.60.....I want to have the capabilites to do 3D and mostly aerobatics ..lots of aerobatics..It seems to be a rock solid flyer with good flight ccapabilites at low or high rates..
I am wondering if whatever engine I get that I invest in a pump//I would have drill the crankcase is that difficult ?? as for servos I bought hitec 645 ultras..I know they arent digital but the torque with 6v is 133 inche s..more than enough to fly snaps etc..
sooooooooo 1.60??noisy yes but powerful..orrrrrrrr a satio 1.50 ..light and 20 percent more power than a 120.. I am getting excited a sI think this plane is just one of the best on the market pure and simple..

lol, i'll say Funtana 90. I honestly dont think you get much more of a flight impovement between the two and the Funtana is cheaper and still preforms good. But i am also a HUGE fan of Katanas, so i am bias.. that Yak sure is sweet though!

Kyle - Based on your videos of the F90 you might be allowed to vote twice. I have a YS 110 and am considering either the F90 or the EF Yak. Obviously Kyle is a great pilot but the F90 looks like it handles the moves as well as videos I've seen of the EF Yak...plus it is cheaper (not a whole lot considering everything besides the airframe) and it is available. I think I'll get the F90...I can always get the EF Yak later when it is available....

RE: EF 68" Yak or H9 Funtana
I am not going to start a war here but, there is alot to be said for a plane that when finished comes out at its advertised weight, has unlimited vertical with the recommended power plant and requires little to no mixing to to knife edge! The yak is all that and much more! I have owned both planes still have my Yak and IMHO there is no comparison between the the flight charecteristics of the two. Yes the funtanna will 3D great but when it is set up for 3D how are its precision charecteristics? They were very poor on mine! The YAK gives a very nice balance between the two and that is worth the few extra bucks to me! Just my two cents. Later guys!

I had a F90 and I loved it but it lacked alot on the percision side, great at 3-d but not at percision. I am now putting a yak together and so for this thing is awesome. i hope what I read is true because I am looking forward to the yak.
I will vote once I fly it here shortly.

Also, my F90 is almost a pound heaver than my Yak(airframe only)--I think this pound makes a difference with something in the 110 power range.
