I'm told they will be the same with a slight change in value of freestyle, down to 15% and the knowns are bumped up to 35%. Unknowns remain as the largest part of the score at 50%.
Size and engine rules will carry over, again, I'm told.
Pilots include 21 invitees, from USA and Foreign:
Mike Caglia - USA; Marco Benincasa - Italy
Kirk Gray - USA; Bernd Beschorner - Germany
Chip Hyde - USA; Frazer Briggs - New Zealand
Chris Lakin - USA; Peter Goldsmith - Australia (USA)
Mike McConville - USA; Roland Matt - Liechstenstein
Sean McMurtry - USA; Christophe Paysant-LeRoux - France
Jason Shulman - USA; Arnaud Poyet - France
Don Szczur - USA; Sebastiano Silvestri - Italy
Ryan Taylor - USA; Quique Somenzini - Argentina
Warren Thomas - USA; Fabio Trento - Brazil
Dave von Linsowe - USA

Don:
Congrats on Your invitation to TOC. Mine must of gotten lost in the mail.
I am planning on going to watch though. Will they have an order of when the known, unknown, and freestyle. I dont want to miss the freestyle, but not sure If I will be able to be there all week.

I plan on going this year for the first time (of course as a spectator). Do you need a ticket to watch the event, how do you go about getting them if so. Doeas the sahara have a shuttle and can you use it if you dont stay at the sahara. Any info from someone that has been there before would be nice. Thanks

They have normally run regular bus shuttles from the Sahara in the past. Entry to the TOC for spectators has been free in the past.
Its a blast, I went as a competitor and a spectator in 2000. It was great doing both.
They normally run an unknown first (nice way to start the day!), then an known then a freestyle each day Wed thru Friday. Saturday is normally 2 unknowns and 2 freestyles for the semi-finals (top 14 in the past). Sunday is knowns, unknowns and freestyles. (Top 7 in the past).
Thats the inside scoop.

Been twice..'96 and '00. I like watching the freestyle, and it is usually about 1 hr either side of noon, which makes it good for not-so-early-risers! And they have great lunch demos...jets, helis, pylon, etc.
You can get food, drinks (yes..mixed drinks, also!), shirts, etc. right there at the sight.
You can get up close to some of the planes for sale to see what the guys are using/doing. I have been in the pits (in '96) they let some people in to take pics.
You can meet just about every legend of modeling there...just shooting the bull like at the field on Sunday.
Oh yes..smallfly..the Sahara runs a shuttle each way every 30 minutes (or have in the past,,) and if you can just get to the Sahara, you can get on the shuttle, they don't card you or anything. Sure beats the cost that a taxi would charge, and you can come and go just about anytime during the day...
I highly recommend making the trip!

Acually the TOC is the reason I moved to Las Vegas. I think that they will just let me fly with em' someday.
Ok well, a man has gotta dream huh!
Looking forward to another, fun week though, and Congrats to Don for the invitation to compete.

Rick and Chuck:
Will also be in town the 19th -21st. Figure this trip I'll help the casinos pay for another statue or painting. But at least they will feed me beer and coctails while I pay for there light bills. Let us all know where the partys will be.

I'll be at the Sahara...they love me there after the 2000 TOC LOL
Me and Rick are gonna hook up, and I have another guy who lives in Vegas gonna hang out with me also. Send me an e-mail, I would love to meet as many of you guys as I can while I'm there.
