Giant Scale Planes Cap 232
I'm thinking about picking up a Cap 232 from Giant Scale PLanes. Anybody have any experience with this company? Will they 3-d at all?

I am considering their ARC 96" cap 232 and I am wondering the same thing. This company gets a lot
of bad press on these forums. I wish I could find someone who is actually flying their planes. If you
obtain anymore information let me know. I'll do the same. There is a guy on here that goes by the
name of volfy who seems to know a few things about their planes.

I've compared the 96 incher to the 35% Carden Cap. The weight and power class is about the same, but the GSP Cap has ALOT less wing area. The only thing that concerns me with the GSP Cap's ability to perform is it's small aileron size. The rudder and elevator are humongous!!!

I assume you're refering to the China Model Productions planes, which is the company that most GSP planes come from.
I'm just completing the Giles 202 1.40 size (72") and I agree with Nick that the elevator and rudder are huge. Certainly with the Giles, I don'y think it'll 3D due mainly to the fact that the Ailerons, although plenty big enough for most things, aren't long enough to be in the prop wash. I'll have to have a measure up when I get home but I guess they are about 10" - 12" away from the fuzz.
Lovely looking plane though and a very well built ARTF. I'll post some pick when mine's built. Below is an image from their ad.

Not too sure who makes their ARC planes. It's almost not worth the trouble modifing the wing to make it 3-d capable. Sure its big, but probably not worth the hassle.

Nick,
The wing area they post is erroneous. For one they are not including
the middle of the fuselage. the acutal wing area on that cap is closer
to 1700 sq inches. For a wing span of 96 inches, the wings would have
to be pencil thin and out of scale to have only 1360 sq inches of wing area.
There is an earlier post here on RCU concerning the wing area issue.

RE: Giant Scale Planes Cap 232
I have had two of their planes although over here in England they are disturbuted by a company called Flair the two planes in question the small 3D cap and the Katana also distubuted by Ultra RC were good quality but both suffer from c 0f g problems the little cap was so bad that the only way you could land was through a bad tip stall the Katana on the other hand is a nice flyer but requires a good lot of up trim to fly straight and level but me and my dad are starting to experiment with moving the c of g back.... Hope this helps
