A 46 won't really 3D an airplane very well but you can get a Funfly airplane that will hover with a 46FX. And that airplane is a Modeltech Magic. I swear 90% of the pictures of this airplane are while its hovering. I have one that I was going to build then I really never got to it. I will sell it to you if you want more details just PM me or E-mail me at [email protected] or [email protected]

Hey, dude I believe that there are airplanes that will 3d for a .46 size engine. How about the .40 Edge 540T FunFly made by extreme flight rc. I hear they have awsome airplanes and lookn at the video makes it all that better. Heres a link: http://www.extremeflightrc.com/produ...ge_profile.htm And look their sold out!

I would suggest that you go to www.ohiomodelplanes.com and look at the Edge or similar palnes. They have kits and ARFs. Great planes to fly and build. A lot of fun. I h ave a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 on an Edge and it has vertical and will hover all day long. Flat spins, Harriers,.... it will do it all.

The Fun Star 46 from Towerhobbies is a good pair for the OS46. I have one with a 46AX and APC 12,25x3,75 prop. It has a lot of reserve in hoovering. The plane can fly like any other lightweight funflyer, makes nice inverted flatspins. It's easy to hoover and inverted harriers. Knife edge is vey poor. It's easy to handle, has good slow speed on landing. The covering has some problems, but can be ironed out easily. With the 46 it has 15 minutes flight time.

Gee Guys your really missing the boat if thats all you can come up with. Paul Swanny's Burrito and Mojo are two of the sweetest 3D planes you will ever see. They fly great with a good .46 and a 12x4 or 12.25 x 3.75 prop. Another great plane soon to be available would be the Bad Boy V-2 from Carolina 3D. I do also agree that OMP has some great ones out there. The Morris Hobbies Sledge performs well with the .46, Then there is the Accel Kanta, the Twist, and the list keeps growing. A good place to start looking would be the Profile Plane threads and Profile Brotherhood websites.

Best I will say (non-profile plane) is the TT Spirit 3D, I got a TT46 in mine and she will hang at 55% throttle. That is with an 11x5 prop and 15% nitro. Try it.

Bolt_locker, is there a site for the burrito and mojo? i'd like to find some more information on them if possible... i really like the edge 540t, so i'll look into that... it doesn't sound like there is much out there that is not profile and performs 3d well with the 46... thanks for the info!

The Burritto and MoJo is at Swanyshouse.com Note they are Kits only and are great if not the Best Planes, I also like the Morris Hobbies Sledge (KitOnly at this time) the Profiles from Ohio Model Planes.com and ExtremeFlight.com are all top of the line and can be had in ARF's if you are not going to build.

I have seen them all fly and all are Great, I have the Sledge, Burritto, EF 540t is in the box still, but unfortanuly I don't spend enough time with them :-(. I guess thats why there in still one piece :-)

FYI for those bound to ask, No I'm not selling the EF 540 t in box. :-) When I ever get to fly again I'll certanly need the backup.

All you need to do is consider the final weight of the aircraft with the 46FX/AX. Anything 5 pounds or under will 3D fine. Closer to 4 pounds is better obviously. I have first hand experience with this engine and have weighed the plane (H9 Ultrastick). It would hover just above 1/2 throttle at 5 pounds using an APC 12.25x3.75 prop.

t1nk, these are all great suggestions...I'm putting my AX on an OMP Katana....

but one question just to clarify....

Which OS .46.....

if it is the LA...than never mind everything....you will need a smaller lighter plane than just about everything mentioned...

if it is the AX/FX....than carry on.

(and if you posted and I didn't see it...sorry)

You need to check the Ohiomodelplanes.com I'm sure they have some ARF's now in stock, Try the Edge or Yak.

That weight thing is real important. Since you are gonna be building a 40 size whatever, you might try micro digi servos itf you have the cash. a standard servo weighs almost 2oz apiece, and the micro digis weight 1oz apiece, and have like 70oz@6volts. Dont forget the LiPo Battery pack. That is at least a 2 or 3 oz savings over a standard 4 cell NiCd.

You might look at BILLYHELL.com. He is coming out with a couple of the Swany kits in an ARF. When they come in I will have a MOJO.

I also recommend a profile, OMP Katana, yak or edge. If you can build a kit do a MOJO, their awesome 3d planes. The model tech magic would also be a good choice. What ever you choose my 46 likes a 12x4 or a 12-3/4x3-3/4 APC. Being your from GA. your probably close to sea level so a 46 will get the job done.

Yeah close to sea level. For power, I intend using an Irvine .53 ... on the MoJo.

my favorite setup is Diablotin Super park flyer (all balsa 3d plane with 1.55m wing) os46ax 12x4 zinger, es composites cf tuned muffler, mac header. cf pipe/header/muffler all weigh less than stock muffler. adds 20% more power and most important - no tingy alum sound while hovering next to my ear.
