Almost tail touched my UCD 60
I came close twice today. It was about 5 mph winds so it wasn't too hard to hover. I was starting to hover 10 feet up and brought it down to the point where it just about to touch the ground. The AMA restricts touching so I just came like an inche from the ground. I couldn't control the torque with my ailerons so It rolled on me a couple times on the way down. It was exciting. On the last flight unfortunatly the elevator counter balance broke during the rolling figure 8. Luckily I was able to save it. I want to fix the elevator, add tail weight and put it through more hell tommarow.

Today I did it for real. I lowered it down and touched the tail. The tail deflected like 30 degrees and cracked the tail by the linkage, but it was still flyable and okay. I felt I accomplished something by bringing it down as low as possible.

I did a tail touch with my UCD 60 last winter when there was thick pile of snow. Figured snow would make the impact less drastic, but I still came down too hard, heard a crunch, and blasted throttle to climb away. It landed OK though. Rudder broke, but didn't break the metal gear servo.

The AMA is investigating your tail touching and is going to revoke your membership as of Friday, the 29th of July, 2005. You should be ashamed at yourself for flying like that. You could have squashed an innocent ant or lady bug. A plane has wings because it is meant to fly, not hover. I request that you turn in your RC Equipment to the AMA for decommission.
