Ok, so I am ready to progress to my next plane. I have gotten comfortable with a intermediate sport/trainer. I have been flying for years but just recently gotten involved with a group of pilots that do a lot of cool stuff so I am progressing fast now. I would like something in a 60 size that I can do some pattern flying, maneuvers, and possibly t-rolls or at least have plenty of verticle power. I am leaning towards either a OS .61FX engine or maybe a FL70Surpass 4 stroke. I want an ARF that is durable and not too hard/time consuming to assemble. I have a computer 6 channel radio. I have taken a look at several of the models on the market. I am leaning towards something like a Lanier razor 3D or maybe a Great planes "you can do 3D". I have a freind that has a 60 size "hots" that is really the type of plane I want (symetric air foil), but they dont make that model any more. So before I screw up I wanted to get some advice.
Any thoughts.

Since you posted this in the 3D forum I assume that you want a 3D plane. My suggestion is that you get an F40 and put the .61 on it. If you aren't deadset on a .61 I would go with the O.S. 50 on it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

the 40 size FUNTANA lacks side area which mean knife egde flight will not be that good.... i sugest U CAN DO (beware of landing gear problem) or HARRIER 90.. i would go for the harrier 90. but you don't want to spend so much money on your FIRST 3D plane and have it end up in the trash after 3rd flight.. guess how i know...

I know it's a tad bigger than what you initally stated.....but have you looked at the Hanger 9 Showtime 4d? With a Saito 100 on the nose.....it will excel at all the pattern manuvers you can throw at it. It will struggle at the hardcore 3d....but still manages to do pretty well. Just imagine pattern meets 3d......that's the showtime. The UcanDo will suffer from flutter if you try to fly pattern with it....there are many many documented cases of speed induced flutter. I've seen the ST with a O.S. 1.08 on the nose fly flat and level at WOT and no flutter.... I can't stress enough how this plane sounds like it suits you. Best part it is I think it's the easiest landing plane I've owned. If you don't mind stepping up a bit in size.....it a awsome way to go.

I think you may need a 60 size profile, get used to the way it flys, use it, abuse it, discard it and just then... buy a prettier plane, but maybe at this point you will not want to stop flyin your profile

OK 60 size is the red-headed step-child in RC- (No offense to red headed step-kids and what not
)
There are fewer 60 sized airplanes than I would prefer- Since you are leaning towards the 61FX and OS-70 Surpass that means you do not have either yet, yes? If you are on a budget or expect that while learning Pattern/3D you may crash a couple airplanes I would ssstay in the 46 2cy. 72 4cy. class-
The U-Can-Do comes in 46 and 60 sizes, they both fly great and fit your specs to a "T", but I would go 46 if you are gonna run the 61FX or OS-70 4cy.
Profile planes are easy to build and you can fly the snot out of them--- an OS-70 4 cy. on any 46 sized OMP profile, Morris profile, etc. will teach you quickly what a great flying 3D plane is like- (I like the Saito-82 or YS-63S/FZ however-)
I think the key is really: What type of flying do you enjoy, or what type of flying really interests you?
If you like pattern flying with some precision a Javelin or Zen-50 would be great-
If you like to learn all the crazy 3D maneuvers everyone is always talking about a profile is the way to go-
If you like an airplane that flies everything pretty well but LOOKS like an airplane, the Funtana-40 or similar fits the bill-
This is a fun and popular topic, keep us posted!

I have both the Sig Mayhem and the U-can-do, both are good planes. The Mayhem will KE much better and is more durable than the ucando, but both are gooe planes

In all honesty, its not really worth it to buy a 60 sized 2C, best just go for a 90 sized one. If you want to go for a nice 40 sized 3D plane that is an all rounder go for the Fliton Extra 330, I have flown many 3D planes and this is THE best. The F40 will not fly as nice as the Fliton, F40 is a nice plane but still will not fly as precise and still has the tendency to drop a wing when you pull a hard wall manuever. Get your CG spot on and the Fliton will KE with very little coupling. That plane gives you the bets of both worlds ... aerobatics and 3D, she will fly IMAC too. Go to www.fliton.com and see for yourself. For that plane get a nice SA82, the FL70 is so so only. This plane is darn pretty too! Its actually a big 40 sized plane with a 59" w/span. I flew mine with an SA72 and then a TT61 2C. The SA72 was much better, lighter wing loading makes it fly so nice.
