Default Zen 90 power

Hello...wondered if anyone out there has tried the Zen 90 with an old OS 61 RF-P? I know it'll be less power than the YS 91, but I thought I could fly it with the OS until I get the YS 91 later in December. Any thoughts, experiences, advice?

Thanks

To enjoy the Zen90 to its fullest extent, install a YS120. I have a YS120 in mine though I have read about others using a YS140.

The Zen90 will weigh between 8-8.5lbs depending on your harware installation. a 61 will fly it, but with lesser authority.

I use YS91s on planes weighing around 6-7lbs max.

Hi there. Thanks for your advice. I shall consider the 140 idea (120 no longer available). However, I was only planning on using the 61 until I got the YS (travel issue - lhs doesn't stock and ordering may be a problem). Now I wonder if there'll be a lot of work involved in refitting it for the YS when I do get it. May be best to just get the YS first.
Thanks

Hi Ken,

This is KC [Sg Buloh flying field]. Welcome to RCU!

I had a Zen 50 with a Saito 72 on it and it was only marginal in the power department. I seriously doubt the OS 61 will be sufficient for anything beyond flying circles. Since you are into pattern, I would think a 120 size four stroke is more suitable.

Flying this weekend?

Hey KC! Fancy seeing you here! Missed you at the field last Sunday. But yeah, I just ordered the YS 91 FZ from Singapore Hobby Supplies. Oh well, in for a dime in for a dollar. Yep, weather permitting I'm there this Sunday morning. Aiming to progress to the Intermediate schedule next year. I think I'm on schedule as I'm feeling pretty comfortable with the Sportsman one. See you then.

Cheers,
Ken

Yep, thanks! Can't wait for it to arrive. Gonna be all digital servo (except retract and throttle). Finally a decent plane to practice pattern with...dang. If only I were back in NSRCA District One! I could clear some space for trophies... Now I just gotta find a store that sells 14x10 APC prop. Actually, this will be my first four-stroke experience. I don't know anything about setting valves after the first hour/50 flights, maintenance, etc. and I'm kinda worried about that.
