Anyone built and flown RCM GITANO 60??

My Feedback: (1)
A local flyer used to fly one, seemed to fly quite well but I never flew it personally. They never had any complaints about it, I dont think you would go wrong building one.
They flew it with the short stroke YS 61 and it had sufficient power for the advanced pattern.

I am building one right now,
the only thing i dont like so far is the fuse construction.
I changed the way the fuse is built, using my own bag of tricks.
Foam/glass top and a sheeted truss bottom, rather then fighting to align 1/8" balsa in free space.
check out the fourm i started at

It should be a good plane.

Hi 747,
My RCM Gitano had its first flight 2day. It fly’s very good with NO bad habits. It required no trim adjustment on the flight. It can handle all the maneuvers in the FAI sequence. My Gitano weighs 9 lbs, meaning a 25 oz/ft2 wing loading. It fly’s light, but it handles the wind well tracks like it is on rails. It is a little smaller then a full 2+2 ship but this plane is easy to keep under the 5 kelo FAI weight limit. I have a GMS .61 on its side with a standard muffler. It has fixed polished aluminum (bling bling) landing gear. The fixed landing gear works well on the grass and sand field that I fly out of. The fuselage was a little tricky to construct, but that’s a given with pattern planes, I pulled a few tricks out of my sleeve to get around the construction issues and it resulted in a good fuse. The fuse space is very small so I put the alivar and rudder servos behind the wing like in a GP Patriot and used a transparent plastic access panel, however it required 2 oz. in the nose to make it balance on 33% M.A.C. the plans suggest 31%. I would recommend this plane to any one that can handle a sport plane, and is an experienced builder.

That sure looks realy nice, except the GMS. A RE 61 with tuned pipe will give it a sleek look,
I scraped my idea and sold the plans and foam wings I had, that is cause I found a built and ready to fly Legend 4 at a price I could not refuse, and have been having a ball with it. All pattern planes fly really well and usually have no bad habits.
Thanks again for sharing the info.
