I was using a 2oz weight that mounts in place of the prop washer. I was wondering what kind of effect that would have on engine performance. Seems like it would make the throttle more sluggish having to spin up that extra weight. Not good for 3d prediciments I would think!

I have been using a 1oz weight on my Irvine 46. I also thought it would make the engine spool up slower but it has no effect on the engine. It runs the same with or without the weight on it. The 2oz weight may be a little diffrent, just give it a try!

i wouldnt think it would make to much of a difference because its at the center of the rotation. now if you put on a prop that was 2 oz. heavier, i can see that affecting performance because the weight would be spread out over the whole spinning "disk"

Years ago I used to run Prather engine mounted ballance weights up to 4oz. Only thing I noticed was the engine seemed to idle a little better from the flywheel effect.

As long as the weight is relatively small it wont affect it abit. Now like what was said above, if it was a 2 oz heavier prop, that would make a difference. That even makes a noticeable difference on 100cc engines. But you should not be able to tell a difference.
