If you have ever seen Mike Sauls and Blaine Austin fly together you knew this was eventually going to happen. Amazingly (you can see in the background the rest of Blaines Edge) they landed them both!
The Black thing stinking out of the front of Blaines wing is the rest of Mikes prop. It is stuck in the end of the wing tube and will not budge!
OUCH! Thats gotta hurt!

I saw it, and they actually hit twice. They both did snap rolls at the same time, and Mike took off Blaine's counterbalance on the rudder. It was embedded in his leading edge... Then mikes prop hit Blaine's wing, and Blaine's prop hit Mikes wing. Mike needs a new firewall, and some covering from what I saw; possibly a new wing. His engine was almost ready to fall off. Blaine needs a new wing, rudder, and canopy.

I know Mike is a Highway Patrolman; what does Blaine do for a living? Must be something good b/c pushing the limit sure isn't cheap!

Blaine is the national sales manager for Oreck. He has had a bad run this year. All I can say is when you fly freestyle and formation,If you don't smash one every so often your not pushing it hard enough.Blaine has gone 2 years with out tearing up anything till this year. Hes just getting his crashes out of the way for the next couple of years. Once he gets the Mid Air Edge repaired it will never die. Once thay make it past that first controlled crash there good to go!!

I have video of the mid-air with slowmo and zoom if anybody wants it. I also will be sending it to Blaine for his web site. I gave him a quick copy at the field. The slowmo zoom is a little grainy but you can see exactly what happened. Looks to me like Mike was flying in a straight line after snapping and Blaine flew under and in front of Mike.

Did everyone get a look at the video clip on our web site? I also have the full video of the entire flight along with some stills and more slowmo and zoomed shots. It is 120 mg but I can put it on CD or VHS tape. $5.00 per copy should cover the costs.
