Hi,
Just my opinion but i think your better off burning fuel and practise! I havn't found the CoG position at all critical and only makes a small difference.
Have fun and practise!!

you really need to have the CG set right to do nice 3D. The plane is balanced well when inverted flight requires only a slight amount of down. Again, just an opinion.

Too far forward can cause the plane to fall out easier, but the difference is mild. You can call it a pendulum effect. With the CG back there it hangs easier. Too far forward will show up much more drastically in other flight modes first, such as the inverted test mentioned earlier. Lateral CG is more critical. The plane needs to hang naturally vertical not to one side. This has more effect on hovering than does the longitudnal CG. The vertical CG has the same effect, but is generally a moot point as most planed do not have a vertical CG problem.
