Default YS91 hover?

What is the heaviest plan that you can hover with a YS91? I have completed CAD drawings for and Ultimate Bipe at 60” now but it can be scaled down if necessary. I don’t normally fly 3D nor hover I just wanted to know if I should make this capable or not for this engine. Thanks

Default YS91 Hover

I have a YS91AC in a U CAN DO, It is approx 7.5lbs., It will hover fine with a APC 16*4w turning about 10,000 rpm's, or a APC15*6. It pulls out of a hover pretty well, not a rocket but nice. I would say 8lbs max for ok 3D work and 7 to 7.5 for good 3D.

Default YS91 hover?

Mike Cross used to fly a Goldberg Ultimate (54 inch around 8 pounds) and hover it on a YS 91. I think... On paper a 16x4 @ 10,000 rpm is about 17 pounds of thrust. Reailty is about a 9 to 10 pound hover. That's one of those hypothetical, sea level, everything perfect type of estimates by the way. I personally would try to keep it under 8 pounds. Full throttle hovers anywhere near Mother Earth are scarry. You want some juice left for bail outs. My $0.02.
