Any 3D comps/events in UK/Scotland/Eire . . . . . .
Thinking of visiting in 2003 sometime to do a bit of holiday. Anyone know of any of these and times or web pages.
Thank you all,

I think that event is held annually at the end of Setember. There's also the BMFA Nationals (Nats) around the same time I think, but I agree we need more 3d events. Nothing like a bit of competition is there?

I'm hoping i'll host a 3D flyin in North Wales next year if i can get a good field.
Maybe comps, but more likely a friendly get together of 3D fliers and solo slots..
See my website www.aeroforce.co.uk

Well I'm currently searching for a local field to use.. Not sure if anything will come of it as the good fields are mostly in use currently.
I can use my club field I think but that would mean we could only have a 1 day event - ideally two would be nice.
It would probably be in July sometime... August perhaps...
Another problem Davey: If we use my club field I don't think you'll be allowed to fly your big Extra as the noise will create too much interest from the farmer - weight limits may have to be implied too dependant on if I can get a field for own use, or have to use the club comittee.
I am in another club, home to some of the UKs top pattern fliers, and it might be possible to use that field aswell .. it would certainly be far better for 3D... though permission is less likely.
I'm only thinking all this out of the idea that the UK needs an exclusive 3D fly-in.. We certainly have the interest, but I understand that North Wales is far for many people (but those coming from Ireland can get off the boat about 10 mins from the field at Mostyn dock... i think from Dublin or Dun Laighoaire(cant spell it sorry!!) Unfortunately i'm too young to drive and wouldnt want to miss such an event, so theres another reason for me wanting it in North Wales!!
I'll be flying the RCM&E Freestyle next year.. hopefully with a funtana, if not my/a Hype 3D (see the other post of mine).
For the UK pattern lads... the GBRCAA round 1 is usually at one of my club fields.. Maybe i'll be good enough at pattern by then too!
Lets hope the opportunity arises and such event goes ahead!

Count me in!!...I think there are alot more 3D'ers in the UK than people think...i'm the only person in my group that flys 3D as the rest fly propa' scale models, so would like to see what others are getting into. You don't realy see 3D in the LMA apart from Steve Hollands 40% Giles 202 last year!
Just out of intrest what would the weight limits likely to be?
Cheers

Well it's likely I'll be flying an 18lb Sukhoi... I'd say 20 ... 25 is probably possible too... it wont be ridiculous though.. enough so you can fly your cap ... its not weight that I have a problem with, if accidents happen, they happen, it's the pilots job to prevent them if you ask me.... noise is more of a problem.. dont worry about ZG 62s, i'm more concerned about 150cc things, and the overall size of those models could have problems as the runway is pretty short in length, unless I can as said get a decent field.
I've not much of an idea yet, obviously i couldnt run it by myself, and this is why it would be handy if I could get it at a club.

Hi,
That weight limits more than reasonable...mind you if the fields short we'll be demonstarting the harrier landing
I wish you luck with finding a field, if you can't, try mentioning it too the BMFA to see if they know of anywhere?
Happy Flying
