I finally had the right weather and timing to fly the sukhoi Saturday. Man what a brilliant flyer. This airplane is so fun and really fairly fast with a YS120FZ. Few it 3 times Saturday with no problems at all... First flight on Sunday, guess what..... the old landing gear broke smooth off and took the stans fiberglass belly pan with it. So now I am looking for pictures or suggestions on how to beef up the landing gear. This plane is such a pleasure to fly... I can not see a way to modify it to where the gear is on the fuse.. I can't state enough how fun this plane is.

Reaper, go to the news group and perform a Google search under Goldberg Sukoi. This plane's been around for a long time and there's a ton of info out there about the landing gear problems. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e....models.rc.air
FYI, the last release of the kit, had the LG moved to the fuse - where it belongs IMO.
I have this kit under the bench and whenever I get around to building it, I will also re-engineer the Lg to mount on the fuse.

I can replace that belly pan for $15.
It has been painted red but other than that, only used once.
When mine crashed, the belly pan was not on it.
I can send pictures if you like!

I have wing mounted gear. 50+ flights with no problem. I beefed up the plate mounting with many bass blocks. I also glassed the center of the wing 6 inches wide with a double layer of glass around the gear plate. The gear is attached to the plate with four 1/4-20 nylon screws. I carry the plane around by the gear leg. I fly off a semi-hard surface.
I agree with the flight habits. Very nice and easy plane to fly. It is very light for it's size. The only challenge I have is keeping it straight with the rudder during the humpty bump and shark tooth (IMAC basic). This airplane hardly takes any power to fly flat and level. I often put around doing slow-low snaps. One of my favorites is 1-1/2 snap to vertical at less than 1/2 throttle.
