Default Widebody 60 - CA Models

Hi there again guys...
Has anyone here ever flown the Widebody 60 from Colombo/Anderson Models?

I'm building mine and I'll have a OS 91 FX on it, and for the servos I'll use JR 8411 on the rudder and Futaba 9202's all arround running on 6volts - this "setup" is for 3D training, will this plane do it well?

Thanks,
Fábio Quintal
Brazil

P.S.: Sorry for "my english", it's not my "1st language"...

Yep, I had time to fly my Widebody. Now I just sold it, but I was not disappointed at all.

My Widebody ended with 3,6kg, and, even with a 91FX on its front, I couldn't torque roll it or do a knife edge loop (The plane will do these very well, but my engine had a lot of problems, maybe because I was using a Bisson Pitts muffler.)

Overall, it flies well, and it's very good for F3A and 3D, it's that I just didn't have enough power for torque roll and so on.

I sold my Widebody because I had an opportunity to buy an Aeroworks Extra 300L 37%, but I would have to sell one of my planes to have enough space... And, after all, I had to dedicate some time to my 33% Extra 330L. Ok, Widebody, nice to meet you.

I wish I had taken some photos, it was one of the best looking planes I owned. Let's say I was not disappointed at all.

Best wishes,
Fábio Quintal

Default wb 60

I think a good 91 to 108> I believe he said that the problem was with his 91 not that a 91 is the wrong motor. Don

Default Engine.. yes!

Yep, the problem was with my engine...
I just sold the plane to have enough space for the 37%

But I will say it again: it flies sooooo well... Now I'm sad I sold it LOL!

Back into the engine problem: you really should use a good 90 (I was using an OS 91 FX with the ORIGINAL MUFFLER - do not use pitts as I did)...

I've seen people with OS 91FX torque rolling with less than half throttle! And their plane's weights were very close to mine's.

Ah, and also... I only flew this plane 10 times, so I didn't try much crazy 3d, because the engine was breakin in.

Good luck! This plane is sooooo smooth!

Best regards,
Fábio Quintal

thanks for the info, I'll be getting the OS 91FX for mine...... wondering if it's worth putting a tuned pipe on , or if there's room to put one inside the fuse> guess I'll have to wait and see

Default PIPES

Nooooo! You really won't need a tuned pipe.
I wanted to put a quiet pipe on mine (when I had it, of course LOL), but I don't think there is enought space inside the fuse, and, if you put it outside, you'll kill the perfect look this plane has, oh, and the aerodynamical design too LOL!

For those who asked about my scheme... It was EXACTLY like this one Marcelo Colombo uses....

Best Regards...
Fábio Quintal

PS: Now I miss my widebody

ya that's a nice scheme..... I bet you miss it. well I guess you just save me from going to a tuned pipe... i was thinking it would help a bit.... what muffler would you recomend then.... not sure if the OS comes with a pipe or not?

Default Silencer...

You can use the silencer that comes with the engine...
Well... but it's a little bit heavy...
I don't know what kind of muffler everibody is using, but if I were you, I'd stick the original muffler.

(Ahh, Marcelo Colombo also uses the original muffler... It's just that you'll have to do a lot of drilling, cutting... look at the manual's pictures and you'll understand what I'm talking about)
