I would run either a 11x5 APC or a 12 1/4 X 3 3/4 APC
Both props do well on the AX.
And as farr as I remember the Funstar should come in well under 5lbs and if it does the AX will do well.
If you want some extra kick get a Tower hobbies brand 46 sized muffler, Its abit long and dosnt have cooling fins.
I run one on my AX mounted on a Hanger9 twist and its nutz, i have unlimited vert at half throttle.

thanks for the info. This engine is actually the older FX still new in box. I'm sure the power to weight is close enough to the same to make your info help. Again, thank you

Yea the difference between the FX and the AX is marginal, power should be the same.

I had one of these with an old Magnum .61 four stroke. It rocked with a 13X4 APC prop.

What Dealspeed is telling you about the Tower muffler is right on the mark. You will pick up over a thousand RPM's on a 12X4 APC prop with that muffler on 15% nitro. The APC 12.25X3.75W prop will give you a better mid range torque, however. I went with hi-toque mini servos all the way around and the plane barely weighed 4.5 pounds. The FX .46 is a much more responsive and powerful engine than my old .61 4S, especially with that $15 amazing muffler on it.

My only complaint with the plane was the translucent orance covering. It got hard to maintain aspect on it at some distance. A little solid colored trim in the right places, with different colors top and bottom did the trick.

Have fun with this plane, it is really a neat fun fly airplane and quite capable.

Hi

I am from Kolkata, India and I would like to buy one Phoenix Funstar very soon, it is available India. But I would like to know if I use 46AX or 55AX with this model how to fit the engine into cowl? Also I would like to know what size of 4S Engine I can use on this model, but only OS Engines please.

What about this 56FS-a 4-Stroke Engine? http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg0956.html
Is this engine enough for 3D flying and hover? What size of prop I should use for best 3D/Hovering performance? Please help me if you can.

Regards,
Rajib

I would suggest a bigger 4 stroke than the 56 that you are mentioning, maybe the new .81 will be a good choice as it has a close displacement as an OS 46 AX.

You will want to look for Hitec ball bearing servos which will work flawlessly and can hold the punishment of the 3D flying:
