Do i Have to go with pull pull with the 33%edge arf or can i set it up with a servo on each side of fusalage like the H9 cap 232 1/3 arf?.. going to have a da-100 on the nose.

Keith124,

I Have an AeroWorks Edge 540 ARF with a DA-100. Does your kit not have the elevator servo cut outs in the tailplane halves?

Either way, why not have the servos in the tailplane?

Sorry, I probably should have worked that out!!

I don't see why you couldn't. Just make sure that the servos are securely mounted - you may need to build the areas up a little bit.

I use a couple of 8411s in line and the pull pull but have used the set up you have on your H9 Cap on models in the past. I can't say I could tell the difference in the air but for whatever reason have used pull pull on rudders on nearly all my models.

Personal preference I think!

I also have the AW 33% Edge ARF w/ a DA 100,mine has cut outs in the tail, but AW told me with the DA to put the rudder servos in the front with a pull-pull because the DA is so light.I am using a servo tray w/bellcrank from SWB,haven't finished the plane yet so I don't know how it balances yet.Check ou SWB @ www.swbmfg.com

My Edge balanced right on the button with the 8411s and pull pull system. However I don't reckon you'd have a problem balancing out tail mounted rudder servos as you have an area about 2ft long in which to move your batteries around - mine are bang on the CofG at the moment.

not really,I had 10 servos and I made a board with a servo hole in it,I attached a pencil to a servo arm,and used that as a pointer.I mounted each servo in the board one at a time, and marked the center and max deflection of each servo, and put them in pairs for the rudder, and each alieron.I used two channels for the rudder and matched them perfectly using subtrim and atv.

As a suggestion if I might, you might want to build/ install everything including batteries and switches and then wait till the VERY END to determine where you need to put the rudder servos for balance reasons. Many things could effect the weight of the tail section of a plane (varying density of balsa, type/amount of glue, covering overlap etc.) I built the kit version of this plane with an older version 3W 100 (1# heavier than the DA) and I HAD to use a pull-pull to balance the plane. I used a Nelson pull-pull tray in mine. I can get you photos if you need

Also, follow Mikes suggestion for matching servos. They are all different.

Have fun, it's a great flying plane............Mark
