I had one a while back with a Super Tigre G90 on the business end. Nice little plane to play around with. I have a lot of pics on my Website at http://zippi.50webs.com/index.htm

Had one and flew the heck out of it.
Its last flight was a week or so ago when I was bringing down for it last landing.
Touched down on the ground and the gear just gave away from the fuselage and the plane cartwheeled over.
The firewall came out.
Was planning on retireing the airplane as I'm getting a used Sig Mayhem from a buddy to fly around.
You are right this is a very fun plane to fly and had a few issues with the build but solved them pretty easily.
The battery went under the fuel tank and the receiver was put into the cockpit area.
I ended up putting alot of weight on the nose to balance it out and that was with a saito 100 on the nose.
Here are a couple of pictures of mine.

Sorry to hear you wacked your plane that sucks. And your right about a few problem like weight issues i put the os 70 4 stroke on it and still had to add alot of weight. Also there is no room on the inside of this plane i stuck my batterie above the fuel tank. And had to cut wood away for the receiver in the back of fuel tank. But over all i built it in 2-3 days even with work. So it was the most easiest plane iever built.

What is the all up weight with the os 70 4 stroke. I assume you are using the fs70-surpass II? I am thinking of fixing one with a magnum 91rfs, hopefully the extra weight will help it balance better.
Any potential structural problem with a bigger engine than the recommended 70 four stroke? jgraham, did you have to reinforce any area with the saito 100? Btw, is the fuel tank big enough for a big four stroke?

A couple of Triangle peices epoxied in would help behind the firewal if you can
get in there. It is a tight fit on this airplane.
On one instance I noticed the front was looking a little wierd.
So I pushed around on the front of the plane and the engine was loose.
Removed the Cowling and found out that firewall had pulled out. I epoxied it back together and
did not have a problem after that. A buddy in Arkansas turned me onto this plane as he was flying it with a
Magnum 91 and it flew great for him. The size of the tank really limits how long you can fly with a larger engine
but for the most part I was able to fly a dencent amount of time but I did have my throttle pulled back most of the
time. No need to fly full throttle with ths airplane, the only time it saw full throttle was on takeoff and then it was not
really needed. I did have a few dead stick landings because I let it fly a little to long but the dead stick landings were
not that bad as this airplane likes to float too.
The only other thing I had happen was the hinges pulled out of the rudder in flight, actually did not notice until after I
landed the airplane. I attribute that to the fact that they used Push rods on the rudder vs a pull pull wire system.
It was an easy fix and back up and flying in no time.
Overall I rate this a good airplane to own and fly.
It is very nimble and an easy built airplane.
The biggest downside is the limited space in the fuselage to put the gear in.
