Please guys, I really need help here.

I have a OS 160 with a JTEC in cowl muffler and a perry VP30.

I finished the installation in that weekend, But, when I tried to start the engine for the first time, the surprise came!

The engine do not start anyway!! When it works, is just for a few seconds.

The most curious thing is the carburator what drops a lot of fuel in which prop turn in my tries to start. I spent two 17 oz fuel tanks and the engine do not ran. There was a fuel puddle under the airplane after my tries.

I try everything. I follow all manuals (pump end engine), I open and close all misture screws of engine, and I set in and out the pump´s screw! Here lives another problem. In one try I removed with no intention the pump screw. I immediately placed it in the place, but, anyway, nothing changed in the engine operate!

What´s wrong??

I'm not sure if I can help you or not, and I can't really see from the pictures, but... We're running pretty much the same setup on a Hangar9 1.20 Edge with a side-mount and Pitts style muffler. I can't see where all your fuel tubing is running, but with the pump DO NOT hook up your muffler pressure line like you would with a non-pumped engine. On our setup we had to turn the pump screw in as far as the manual said before we could get the bubbles out of the fuel line and a solid full flow to the carb. One thing that I noticed in your pictures is the fact that you have the inlet and outlet lines set up vertically, and the manual says to mount the pump with the inlet/outlet nipples horizontally. I know it doesn't look like you have much room inside the cowl to do that, but I would get it as close as possible. Also, while you're changing this, you need to make sure that the breather hole for the pump (90 degrees from the inlet/outlet nipples) is either pointing up, or down, whichever the pump instructions say. And lastly, if it still doesn't run well after you get the pump mounting fixed, you might put the plane on a stand inverted and have a friend hold it, and try starting it with the engine upright. I'm not sure if the OS 1.60 likes being inverted or not. I hope this helps, and you get your plane running soon!!! Good luck! -Grant

Your using a Perry pump. Thats whats wrong.

Throw it in the trash and buy a Cline regulator. Your problems will go away faster than a fart in a hurricane.

Grant, the tank is not pressurized and the bombs really were mounted on wrong way, as you said. I followed your advice and adjusted the bomb accurately as orders the manual, but the problem continued.

I had to escape of the standard setup of low speed mixture in carburator and closed the screw the maximum that I could. Here the things started to work. Anyway,I still did not fly the airplane and will need much help for future problems!

And Rcpilet,I will try the Perry a little more.If don´t work, I will follow you!!

Many of us Run the OS with the Pump Rcpilet,with super results..bashin the product while most have had solid running motors does not help Hoverlow.
I have only 25 flights on my engine and am not of much help.Is your pump above the carb? I think it has to be at the same level or lower,but check manual.Sounds like it most likely flooding it.The inverted engine may add to this effect.Maybe post your plumbing diagram here and some can see if something is mixed up.I know I had the vent mixed up and made a mess with fuel everywhere...
