Congratulations!! The plane is amazing. I'm considering getting another one (my Rx battery came unplugged, the rest is self-explanatory). Please post some pictures, just by editing the last post. RCU is kinda weird for uploading pictures.

So after reading the posts, most seem to using the Saito 100, Will the Saito .82 be good for this plane?
How about the Magnum .91FS?
Also do I need to get some kind of pump or regulator?

You don't need a pump or regulator, unless you want to put the fuel tank on the CG. I have no experience with the Magnum 91FS, but several friends have told me what they think of it. From what they've said, it seems like that engine will work well. My plane was just slightly nose-heavy with the Saito and the elevator servo in the fuse, so you'll have to put the tail-feather sevos in the back. I'd recommend that anyway, so it doesn't matter. Whatever you do, wipe the engine box down with some epoxy...a light coat should do. Believe me, it helps.

Does the plane come with motor mount and the Pull Pull setup for Rudder?

It does come with the motor mount, but not with the pull-pull system. If you buy a DuBro pull-pull system, you'll get the best set-up.

I'd use a nylon-coated kevlar set up from DHS...

i used do bro pull pull and it was fine. i used two hitec 225 mg mighty mini in the tail and now , about 15 flights everything is ok.
the o.s. 70 ultimate is a jewel . never had any other so regular engine. i have a yamada 180 dz on my extra 300 and there are the same kind of an engine if you not mind cubic inches. the edge fly very light, very nice and predictable. slooow and oooohhhh so nice landings !. great flat spins!!! no coupling in knife edge. she flies better than 1/4 scale i have seen!!
i can hover it and i am using an apc 13-6. i would like to try this wide apc. i get kavan 350 cc. tank and i fly 15 min.( not so calm aerobatic) with 1/3 of cool power still in !!!
i am not able to load photo. i will try again.

I'm not knocking that engine, in any way. I mean, that fuel pump has to be great...but isn't it a little under-powered with the OS FS-70?

i suspect with saito 100 it will pull out of hovering better than mine, but i think it is the only situation where i would get the change. otherwise i prefer the lightness of my setup. and the o.s. is so regular.....

pinguecola i want to do the same setup on the rudder that you did with putting the rudder servo up front and do a pull pull. how much down elevator travel do you have. i've been triing to figure a setup to get to most travel with out hitting the rudder horns. if possible could you show a pic with full down travel.

Jamesrxx951, I have a sugestion on concerning that. Have you ever seen the Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle's set-up for the rudder? If not, visit www.flitonstore.com or www.fliton.com and go through its pictures. The pull-pull cables exit through the fuselage higher up, and they mount about half-way up the rudder. If I were building it again, I would have done it that way. It's a great set-up, and keeps the rod WAY out of the path of the elevator. I hope that helped!

i do not have any trouble about elevator. in 3d rates full deflection it can touch rudder arms, but softly and i never feel it during 3d flight. yesterday some nice hovering with mi little o.s.... this little plane is really fun ! hs 225 hitec good job. light and effective elevator. ( hangar 9 titanium rods). the plane is so light it land almost stopped in the air, nose up. the most beautiful side slip i ever had. you feel at home.

JUST WANTED TO POST A WORD ABOUT THE STOCK LANDING GEAR, WITH THE PLANE FULLY LOADED THE CAMBER ANGLE IS NOT AN ISSUE. I PICKED MINE UP SECOND HAND WITH A OS .91 FS, TWO ELEVATOR SERVOS IN THE TAIL, RUDDER SERVO IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TAIL. 15X 4 WIDE PROP. IT WILL HOVER GOOD, NOT THE TREMENDOUS VERT I WAS EXPECTING, BUT THE GENERAL FLYING CHARACTER MAKES UP FOR THIS. I MAY TRY THE PERRY OSCILATING PUMP TO GET A LITTLE MORE UMPH. I AM USEING Y S 20/20 FUEL AND HAVE A VERY RELIABLE LOW IDLE.

I just wanted to update my feelings about this airplane. A while back I posted that I wasnt very pleased with my purchase of the fliton plane. Well I finally decided to get it finished up(tired of looking at it stuffed in the corner) and try it out, but instead of using the Saito 100 I had originally installed in it, I decided to go electric for power instead of glow.

I have to admit that the quality of flight totally caught me by surprise. This plane flies awesome. I no longer regret purchasing this plane. It was sort of a pain to get it all setup but it was worth every minute spent.

My setup consists of E-flite power60, Castle phoenix80 ESC, Flightpower EVO25 5s 3300 lipo, APC 16x10 e-prop. PLENTY of power for it. I put in a couple of 4 minute flights earlier(Maiden/setup) Of what I would say very agressive sport flying on it and each time only put back 1080mah on the charge. Seems like I should be able to get 6-8 minutes of flying out of it per charge. I will need to do some more flights though to get the flight times dialed in.

All I can say is I am glad I finally finished it up and put it in the air, If you are thinking of going electric for power on this plane I highly recommend it. It is truly a lot of fun to throw around the sky.

great job. i have got electic only in small planes and i am afraid it will cost a lot to convert medium or big birds. Anyway my little o.s. ultimate is a great combo on this light plane and i can fliy 15 minutes with 350 cc tank and it floats like a dream ! not a wing rock in inverted harrier and only a bit in up harrier. ciao francesco

If anyone is interested here is a graph for amps and watts. This setup is very strong for this airplane and flies it well.

setup consists of E-flite power60, Castle phoenix80 ESC, Flightpower EVO25 5s 3700 lipo, APC 16x10 e-prop.

I am currently up to 8 minutes flying time(using good throttle managment). Might be possible to go 10 minutes but havent been able to do more testing due to weather.

Graph is from an eagle Tree data logger and is just a static test for max amps(47amps) and watts(880), Two quick full throttle pulls just to see what I was getting. I dont have any flight graphs yet.

Glad to see this thread is still alive. Just ordered my second edge; first one exploded in the air on a 3d rates snap roll more than a year ago. Had 2 extra as well but as much I want to totally get rid of glow this plane with saito 100 it's perfect to keep in the back sit of your car and have some fun after work.
