I've used this engine in 3 of these planes:

You'll have to do some modifications to the plane if you want it set up REALLY nice. But for $100 shipped to your door--it's well worth it.

If you decide to buy the plane and you want to know how to really set it up nice--shoot me an email or a PM and I'll tell you what to do with it. No sense in typing it all out here unless you actually decide to buy the plane.

The plane does fly slow, and it does all the moves. I like it because it's a full fuse. rather than a profile, and it's "scale". It goes together in about 2 evenings if you just want to build it stock. It takes about a week to really trick it out nice.

If you buy it and you slap that TH .75 on it---you better be real good at throttle management. No full throttle runs unless the nose is pionted straight up. Even then, I back off on it. This combo will accelerate straight up. It actually gains speed pulling out at full throttle, and it can get going too fast even going straight vertical. So, don't push that left stick much past 1/2 way on a regular basis or you'll rip it apart.

The Kangke Fun 50 is a great machine. I have an OS 65LA on mine and it has plenty of power. The only mods I did were add a second elevator servo and replace all pushrods with 4-40. Well-built and fun to fly. The extra wingspan handles the weight of the larger engines just fine.

I've got one of these small Giles, the full flying rudder makes the plane flutter going straight at anything over medium speed. I cut the rudder and glued on the front part, didn't seem to hurt the rudder movement much, but now with the small vertical stable it seems a lot more stable.
Cute little plane. I'm flying with a Tower .46....

For a 1st 3d plane with a Tower 75 I would go for a U Can Do 46. It was my 1st 3d plane and is a very easy and predictable flier. It weighs nearly 6 lbs and has 1000 sq inches of wing area so the 75 will be good on it. Just keep the speed down. Mine is still flying after more than a year and I have never detected flutter but I am careful with it.

The site listed says the Giles is sold out. It looks like about a 3rd 3d plane to me.

It is sold out.

It's a CMP plane. Anyone who sells CMP planes will probably have it.

Giant Scale Planes does have it for $79. And thats cheap. I wouldn't buy anything from GSP though. Past experience--BAD. If you decide to deal with them--call first and nail them down to an EXACT shipping price before you pay. They like to sell panes cheap--like this Giles for $79--then hammer you $30 to ship it.

It's not a third 3D plane as Jack thinks. This was my first 3D plane, and I loved it. It flies easy. I never experienced flutter on it, but I never flew it fast either. It's not made to fly fast. 40MPH tops.

I always use a JR9411 coreless digital on the rudder and run 2 solid pushrods to it. Kind of a HARD pull/pull system made from 4-40 rods. The 9411 digital is 100oz at 6V and it's got metal gears. Mid size profile. Perfect servo for the rudder on this plane.

I really wouldn't use standard servos on this plane. That might scare off a few people. I always use JR4721 servos on the ailerons. Dual elevator servos. JR9011 and the JR9411 on the rudder. $375 worth of servos on a $80 plane. But I never experienced any flutter or had any servo problems with it.

It really is a great flying plane. Excellent entry level 3D plane with a full fuse.
