Default Extreme Flight RC Yak 54 - 74 inch!

Howdy everyone!

As you all know, the extreme flight RC Yak 54 was quite frankly, well, an epic plane. Set the example for all things to come in the 3D world, in both quality and performance. However, with one thing or another, manufacuring ceased.... to the annoyance of many people!

Not to be set back, Chris has designed somthing a bit bigger, and much better!!! The EFRC Yak 54, 74" span!

and i have one

over the next few weeks ill be posting some build photos and test flight reports.

The Evo 26 would work with pipe. I like the BME 55...if it gets released.

Well, the model was originally flown on an OS 160, which is what you see in the pics (chris putting it through its paces). The UK distributer, Daniel Roser of [link=http://www.freestyle-rc.com]Freestyle RC[/link] is also using an OS 160. It can also be used with an YS 140 and the 160, which i can tell you all is one heck of a motor (turns an 19x8w, and ooh so smooth).

However, ive gone for somthing slightly more enviromentally friendly Hacker Power!

To be a bit more specific im going to be using a Hacker C50-14xl Acro Competition. This is a top of the range motor, best money can buy, for 2m models, all the top pattern pilots use it. It comes at price, but when added up against a YS 160/hyde/haitori setup, its about the same. with 10s1p Flightpower 5000 packs, and a 22x12 prop, i should be pushing 2.5Kw!!! hopefully all that power will be helpfull as an E setup will weigh approx 1kg more than the IC setup (dry), about 2lbs.

As for small gassers, personally i wouldnt reccomend one, but if i did have to, a ZDZ 40 or a Evo/MVVS 45 MAG (magnesium casing, much lighter), both with lipos on the ignition

More details and pictures soon!

Just so there's no confusion... the pics show the prototype scheme... the final production scheme is almost identical , but does not curve on the cowl... comes straight out like this:

Allright now.. Nice electric setup. Its out of reach financially at this point, but is getting better every year. A 45 cc gasser in my opinion is a bit too much. Is there a light and powerful 35cc motor out there? Chris, good work bud.

It's not power, but weight that is an issue here.... You can always reduce the throttle... but unfortunately none of the 35cc engines weigh less than the 40-50cc engines.

Other electric options include the new HiMax outrunner motor... with a CC HV-85 and the 9s-10s lipo... should provide great power...

True, the E setup is expencive, but in the UK, its no more expencive than a gas setup, or even a YS setup. And with no fuel bills to pay, its a winner for me!

OS 1.60 with muffler = 42.9 I think going by tower hobbies.
Roto 35= 62 oz I am guessing with Pitts style in cowl muffler....

That is a tubby little motor.

The MVVS lineup is not any lighter though. Even that Mag case would be rediculous.

TP 10S4200 mah packs are right around $565 . You need 2 to have any fun in a day... Thats just the battery, Not including speed controller or motor. I am by NO means starting an E VS gas war here. Its just not quite $ efficient yet.... but it will be and I am someday gonna do a big electric.

I just need a small gas motor project and this is IT!
