well after a successful maiden flight I would like to say that this bird flies beautiful.I was a little nervous as it was my first gasser coming from a funtana 90 and x100 .Hovers were at about 1/3 -1/2 throttle but I'm sure my new da50 will only get stronger. It has some knife edge coupling towards the gear but its no problem ,spins really nice,snaps/tumbles awesome and floats on in what seems like forever with the cg to the back of the range.

I used brand new digital bathroom scale with myself holding the plane and without.I'll take it to work and weigh it on our digital postal scale.Whats a pound +or- ? it Doesn't fly like brick and has unlimited vertical with the da50 so far I'd say it's an awesome plane and I'm sure when some of the other folks fly theirs they'll say the same.

RE: NEW Hanger9 27% Cap 232G!!!! Build Thread!!!
here you go guys i found this on the H9 website
"The new Hangar 9 produced 27% Cap is designed as one of the 27% scale aerobatic models which seem to be just about the most desired size models in RC currently. People familiar with these models will identify with the requirement for a 45-50cc size gas powered engine. First production models were powered by the Evolution Gas Power 45GX. In the case of the 27% Cap 232G the wing span is 80†and the weight will come in at 13.5 to 15.5 pounds depending of course on the equipment that is installed by the RC modeler. This size has become popular for a number of reasons. The model can be powered by conventional glow 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines as well, notably the Saito FA-220a."

Keep up the great work Flyguy... I bet it is going to fly great!
Gents... lets keep the thread on track, eh....
as for weight... it is personal preference... lighter is not always better... depending on how you are flying.... and as there is only one or two of these planes out there so far... lets wait (weight?!) until we get some more flight reports before we bash how much it is or isn't going to weigh and how it is going to fly... can we please?

Have you flown this airplane or airframe type bodywerks??
Have you flown this airplane or airframe type bodywerks??
At this point I stand corrected. I hope everyone's plane comes out as light as Railinrob's or lighter - it should be a good flyer if that's the case.
What's disturbing is that they are surely losing sales by claiming such a high weight. It is because of that that I and several other weight freaks wouldn't take a second look at this plane. I don't care how cool a plane looks or who designed it - if it has a heavy advertised weight it loses my vote. If it comes out significantly heavier than advertised, I sell it. I always meet or beat the target weight, but not by as much as this!

well i ordered the carbon fiber wing tube and a prop today! i also changed the tail wheel. I know its a beautiful piece but the wheel weighs way to much for my taste so i picked up a Dave Brown Lite flite wheel and changed it. Now it shouldnt require very much if any nose weight. I hope!

I don't get it, what are you talking about?? Horizon says 14.5-15.5 and on this thread the one guy with any credibility says his is 14.8lbs. Why do you continue to disregard what that guy says? The H9 Extra 260 in my garage weighs 13.6 lbs with Evo 45 in it so an airplane that is 200 plus square inches bigger should be expected to be close if it comes from the same designer.
I can understand your skepticism as many of the 27% Yaks that are flying are in the 18lb range but they use different construction methods than H9 does.

I'm gonna try to add some pics to this, but somehow I always screw that up. Could not get used to the bats under the canopy had to move them just behind the tank. This still kept me from having to add weight. Lord knows I don't need any more. Looks like wing loading at about 31 not exactly a floater.

Marv,
The cowl will eat right through your ignition wire. Get yourself some spiral wrap from an auto parts store to protect it.
