Flame suit on!:
I don't even fly 3D yet but.... I can't be the first person who has thought of this....
Couldn't having the engine change angles with the elavator and rudder open up a whole bunch of new possobilities? I figure you would need a gimbal type mount similar to a boat's compas is mounted in. Hook it up to the rudder and elevator.
I can picture tumbling and flat spins and knife edge stuff that would be new and crazy!
OK pulling the face shield down on my flame suit and turning on the air tank...........

I have thought of that before
Make like a cp heli head with a swash plate powered by a direct drive glow engine on a plane and mix everything together
Talk about the most complicated rc system of all time

Been there done that on a foamy. Didn't do anything new or different.
Added a bunch of weight, too.
