Breeze over the following article they did about the very subject, interviewing Mr Hyde about bipes.

Chip really explains the advantages he feels the bipes have over the monoplanes.

The thing is though, unless you get a BIG ultimate, there are no large 3D Bipes (35%). If you want something is 120 size, then the DP Ultimate is the choice.

I've daydreamed about either a DP Ultimate or Extra. But have kinda been waiting to hear about the new Edge. Have always liked a bipe, It doesn't matter how big it is when you pull out a bipe everyone goes wow!

I hear ya bucket. I was at the BARKS swap meet last year and ended up walkin away with that 42% weeks solution x fiberglass fuse that was there. Visions of a pair of 76-78 inch wings and an ultra lighthweight (14 lbs) plane danced in my head, powered by an 80 CC gasser. It sat in my garage until I realized the time, effort and $$$$ it would take to finish it. I ended up selling it, but would love to have a DP Ultimate. We have a guy at our field who has one with an OS 160 with a cline regulator, turning an APC 18/6 prop. Thing flies like a work of art.

I have seen several DP ultimate's but never seen one fly. Will it do everything the Extra will do? Slow high Alpha stuff, blender, waterfalls, and such. I know from my bipe experience the roll rate is extremely axial and wickedly fast. And they like to land with a little throttle. But they don't glide well on the dead stick.
One way to solve the mystery, I guess, would be to go ahead and get one of each!!!

I'd like to jump in on this one as well, to add on to what was said. Biplanes, in particular I can speak for the Ultimate as I have flown Chip's (just prior to the TOC) and an older, Carden prototype at the Joe Nall several years ago-
Positive High Alpha stability, in general, is superior. More wing area and larger rudder authority with the Ultimate.
Strong torque roll capabilities.
Several other advantages are even more important, ease of doing complicated rolling circles, and most of all, superior tail sliding capability. I'd consider the tail sliding excellence to be the key (for me personnally).
Anyhow, my thoughts...
