H9 Twist Engine?
I had just an OS .40 la in my twist which flew fine for basic flying. Can anyone tell me what theyre powering their hanger 9 twist .40 with and the performance? I want to get a more powerful engine to hover and do 3d flying. Can you give me good choices for both 2 and 4 strokes that will make this plane better for me? Thanks.

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
I have a Magnum 70 in mine with a 14/4W APC. Unlimited verticle and also can float it like a leaf. I haven't learned 3D flying yet so I can't tell you how it does that. I can just imagine with the power it has it will do about anything you throw at it.

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
We bought our twist as a plug'n'play with the Evo 46 in it - it was pretty good, Not unlimited Vertical but for learning 3d an excellent option for the price. I have since had a Saito 72 and a Saito 82 in it to get some time on the engines. Either of those engines is "Out of sight" performance in all senses of the term - excellent hover, excellent vertical and a whole load of fun.

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
Varad, I went from an O.S 46FX to an O.S 61FX. What a powerplant that is!!Smooth, easy to break in, easy to tune. Awesome power!!!I would highly recommend it! There is an TWIST forum here on RCUniverse. Visit it...you will find tons of good advice there. I can tell you that I followed the advice from one of the guys there, to put the O.S 61FX in the Twist. I can not be any more happy with it. The Twist flies super!! PM me if you need more info.

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
I have 465 flights on my TWIST on TWO 46ax motors..
Both with 12x4 props.. hovers about 3/4 full power....
If the second 46ax wears out I am going to use the
new 55ax... will bolt right in with much more power
and just a small amount of extra weight...

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
thanks a lot for all your help. Now i have some better ideas. The .61 sounds interesting but even the .46 will do alright. Can I get a link to the twist forum? Thanks.

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
These are my engine experiences on the 40 size Twist.
Evolution 46, with a Tower Muffler and an APC 11.5-4 prop. Slow unlimited vertical. Easy to use. Cheap. Messy. The engine ran fine but seeped fuel from the front seal.
O.S. 50SX ringed, with a Mac's black pipe and an APC 12.25-3.75 prop. Super unlimited vertical. Not as cheap. Now discontinued engine but they're still out there on some shops shelves. Pretty clean with an exhaust deflector on it. My choice for 2 stroke power. Note: the 50SX is an engine that requires a proper break in. As with any ringed engine, do NOT just put it on and fly it rich. I broke mine in on a stand for 3/4 gallon of fuel, alternating the needle from rich to lean and it has performed so good that it is the last 2 stroke glow engine I own and I'm gonna keep it until I can't get parts for it anymore. A friend got one after seeing mine and just put it in the air running rich and it never performed as nicely as mine did. My 50SX is currently on a Tango 40 and I'll be flying it again in a couple of hours.
Saito FA72/82, APC 14-4W prop. Super unlimited vertical. Not cheap. Outstanding mid throttle torque. Clean. I've flown the 72 and the 82 in Twist 40's and they're so close I can't really tell any difference between them on this plane. I did switch to a Master Airscrew 13-6 K series prop for the Twist. I found that the APC didn't throw as much air of the tail in hovering/harrier moves as the plane needed. The 13-6 solved this with no loss in vertical performance.
I've had 3 of these planes. All of them met a loud and grotesque, but fun, death. In my book, the Saito is the way to go on this plane. This plane is not the 3D wonder that everybody thought it would be BUT, it IS one of the best, general purpose fun fly planes ever. I'll be getting another Twist 40 soon...

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
I've had the .46 fx with a 12/4 APC, it flew great, then I put in my .55 AX with the 12/4 APC had to change to my 13/4 APC (wow, what a performer), then yet again another engine change, I then tried my OS FL-70 4stroke(still in the plane) with the 13/4 APC and still a great performer, going to try my 13/4w APC as soon as the weather gets a little better. In my opinion you just can't go wrong with a light engine and lots of power. I'm enjoy flying my Twist more than my Showtime 50, looking at the Twist 150 with Gas now....going to be needing a bigger hanger soon...

RE: H9 Twist Engine?
Here are my Twist the 40 has an os .61 FX with macs tuned pipe. the 150 a BCMA spe 26CC gas engine. Both planes are off the hook. When overpowering a plane of this kind you have to be carefull and slow down before smnp rolling or excessive manuvers or the plane will snap break from theloading on the planes flight surfaces. Both planes are fast as hell. the 40 is really fast with the os engine in it.
It had the evelution .46 engine to begine with witch is better for learning on after you have learned on it and grown tired of it then an OS 61 is off the hook IMO.
