Ernie,

Yes, it was the 40-size. The one I used has been in my junk box for at least 10 years, however, so I guess it's possible they changed the grade of wire they use. This thing was a bear to bend. It's odd that they would mess with a proven thing.

Ernie, Try the sixty size one. I recently put one on my Do and it seems stout enough.

I was just catching up this thread and noticed all the links to the pictures are broken. Am I the only one having this problem?

rustypep,

They are working for me. If you like, you can go directly to my Photobucket account account and see them without all the bothersome text.

Hello fellas. I just found out about this sight so i am way behind. Its cool to read about all the things i expierianced with my reacror. My power is a ys 63, and svos are all Hitech 225,s. The covering comes off a little with every flight. Wipe with alcohol them stick it back down with ca. I finaly did away with the pants and put on bigger wheels. Original lg and made myself learn how to land and taxi without noseover. Flying it for 6-7 months with only one near miss. Broke left evevator servo gears doing wall. Stuck full up elevator. Held other half full up to match and somehow made a harrier landing. Complete luck that i didnt total it, but i let the guys think i had controll all the time. Very good machine.

Nice build thread ! Good to see it come back as I,m thinking about getting one of these for practicing 3D without having a lot of $ tied up.

Erik:

Great build thread, congratulations. I have one a question. What brand of exhaust adapter did you use on the YS63 to divert the muffler to the bottom?

Thanks,

Luis

Thanks Luis. I got it from Performance Specialties. I originally ordered the wrong one so I'd advise calling them to make sure they send you the right thing. They make their own mufflers (which have a different thread size) in addition to making adaptors and so forth that fit factory mufflers.

During the assembly, I have damaged the covering []. Someone knows the references of the "Monokote" used for this aircraft?

Thank you.

I have put about 15 flights on my Reactor and I haven't seen any signs of the covering coming loose or seperating so I'm good to go for now. I'll be keeping an eye on it as time goes on. Maybe I got lucky and got it all sealed down good.

I doubt it. I had mine set up with the rx battery just fwd of the rudder. That's where it ended up to get it balanced right so the heavier servos should be good for it.

i have a twist 40 that has 5 JR537 servos, would these perform alright in the reactor for a few months of basic flight. I usually fly conservative. Only reason for the question, being that 6 digital servos are to expensive at the moment.

thanks,
Kassun

Reactor Split Elevator DX7 Programming

How do I program my Skektrum DX7 transmitter for split elevators for my GP Reactor.46.
I have one(1) servo for each elevator half on the sides of the fuselage with the arms pointing down.
One servo is plugged into the elevator (ch3) terminal and the other is plugged into the gear terminal(ch5) for the mix.
I followed the DX7 instructions, but cannot get both elevator half’s to go the same way.
Thanks-

copied from Bob P's website:

The TX can do dual elevators easily. The ONLY mixes that "master" trim into BOTH channels are Mix 5 and 6. Use one of them.

Doing dual elevators, the "elevator" Travel adjust sets BOTH as soon as the mixing is turned ON, and the second channel (AUX2) travel adjust will have NO effect. It's supposed to work that way.

Both channel "sub trims" ***DO*** work, and may be used to fine tune centers, if you cannot do it mechanically.

If you cannot get identical travel mechanically after Mixing is setup, set the OVERALL deflection using the "Elevator" Travel ATV.

Adjust the "MIX Volume" (percents in the Mix function) to alter the SECOND channel, either less than 100% or up to +125% of throw. This adjustability SHOULD get all but the crappiest dual elevator setups matched.

I have used the 82 on them and would recommend that instead of the 100. It's a light plane and you won't need the 100.

Default RE: Great Planes Reactor ARF .46-.70 - Build Thread

I am finishing building my Reactor with a OS 81FS-a and I want to practice on the RealFlight simulator with a similar airplane. Currently I am flying a  World Models T-34 and the Reactor will be the 2nd only plane besides helis. I will have some experiance pilots to check it, test flight it and budy-box for the first few flights.

I was looking around  RealFlight  (version 4.5) and the only similar airplane I can find is the KEtana (glow). Any of you already flying the Reactor and have RealFlight can you comment if the KEtana is close to the flying characteristics to the Reactor or have any other planes in RF plane suggestions ?

Thanks
Nick
