Default midwest extra 300 is this a good engine for it

To day at a swop meet I picked up a midwest extra 300 80" wing. I have a 3w 42i. Would this be a good engine for this plane.. I know some one that has a 45zenoh on his and he likes it.. I just thought I would ask and see what you all have to think about it..

I would think the 42i would be a much better motor
for the plane as the G45 is heavy...
Depends on the weight of the plane and how you
are going to fly...

I had a Midwest 300S / Brison 2.4 and it was NOT enough engine but my plane was heavy - almost 17 lbs. by the time I put 20 ozs. of lead in the nose to balance it. It will be a good engine if it comes out at about 15 lbs. or less. Some guys can get it to come out at that weight, I couldn't and am not sure why.

In my Extra 300 xs midwest, I put to O.S. BGX 3500 and it seemed to be plenty of power. With a little tweaking of the neetle valve and a lot of gas, she was up and running. I do believe that it has enough motor to do 3-d flying as well. Hope this helps. Greg

Well I thing I will have to give it a shot and she how it is going to do. I see that puting a back carb on a plane is not as ez as I thought it would be.
Paul. Thanks for all the info..
