For real 3d
Go MoJo.
Can fly mega radically or super easily - just depends on how you set up the throws - Tough as nails, excellent to fly and very forgiving when the thumbs don't keep up.
Kit is very easy to build (mildly experienced builders can receive on on a monday and fly it the following Saturday without working too hard to do so. (I built one in 3 nights quite easily) but they are also available from billy hell RC as an arf.

Great Idea Walt! The Magic is inexpensive and a 32 is perfect for it. Not as good as some of the newer 3D planes but a good starting plane for learning on that's for sure.

The QQ 102" Yak handles the wind nicely and is a good 3D plane.
