PA Bad Boy V2 - Knife edge coupling?
Hi everyone,
First of all, I maidened my PA Bad Boy V2 today !!!!! What a lot of fun this plane is. I've only ever flown trainer/sports models before and this little beauty was an absolute blast to fly. I managed to do a knife edge spin, well I think that's what it's called when the wing is vertical and the body is spinning around the wing. Don't ask how I got it into that attitude but it looked impressive
During normal knife edge flight (not the spin above) it tucks to the belly quite a lot. I've never heard of anyone else having an issue like this with this plane so I was wondering what would be the general cause for this behaviour? I can, and probably will, mix it out, but I'd like to know where I potentially went wrong with the construction so I can have a chance of fixing it, or avoiding the same mistake on the next plane. The fuse, wings etc. all look to be ok, no warps that I can see.
Thanks, FJ

you could try lowering the ailerons a little and moving the CG back,do this one at a time in small amounts,i have one of these also it does the same as yours in knife edge, not a bad flying plane.
ENJOY!

fjaust,
I had one of the first Bad Boy V2 that came out in 05 and I was running a Saito 82 on the business end. Oddly enough mine had a little coupling as well. I did what closetguy said about lowering both ailerons just a little at a time until the plane flys straight in KE. This worked for me.

thanks for the suggestions. i'll dropping the ailerons down first before i cut the tips off.
i have another question regarding a repair job. i was flying over the weekend and one of the days was quite windy. i landed the bad bay and was taxiing back to the pits when the wind flipped the plane over. the only damage was the elevator had cracked on one side near a hinge point. i CA'd the crack and it seemed quite strong afterwards but after flying the next day i noticed that the crack had opened up again. i guess that hinge point is now a weak spot and i want to repair it permanently. what would be the best way to do that? i was thinking about putting two new hinges on, one either side of the crack but i'm not sure whether that would fix it or not. i could also try to order a replacement elevator but that might be a last resort if i can't fix it some other way.
Thanks, FJ

Hey the FJ,
I've been looking at this plane for some time now, just out of curiosity, what engine do you fly this bird with? And, of absolutely no relevance what color did you end up with? Would you buy the BB again?
Take care and be well,
