Hi Pilottx
I haven't got a UCD but I made a few enquires last yeat. I phoned Steve Webb and was told they thought it wouldn't be available til at least late summer, so I emailed Great Planes and was told 2 months on special order. Then theres the duty to pay too..... In short I've now moved on to other things, if it does come to th UK officially I might look at it again, but I'll probably have a Flip 3d by then and therefore not want it!
I think your ASP might just hover it but I don't think it'll have an excess of power though. From what I gather most people are using Saito 100s or larger YS motors. Hope this helps......

A friend and I are looking to do some syncronised 3D stuff, nothing serious, just for fun.
We had been using Hypes till his one shed its tail in flight (usual story) These were great with 80 fourstrokes.
Looks like we are going to forget the UCD as they are quite heavy and as you say the 80's won't really have the grunt.
So my friend will probably buy the new Hype and we'll carry on as we were, till my Hype dies that is.
Or is there anyting else out there that you know of with a light wing loading, looks good will suit an 80 FS?
Cheers

I take it you've been reading the thread here in 3d about the Hype? Its been a very hot debate for the past few days (which is good!) Seems not a surprise that your tail fell off, talk to Welsh3d about that!
To answer your question the only funflys I reckon are worth spending money on (IMHO) are the ZN Madness, the Flip 3d, the (new) Hype 3d, and the Cougar 2000. Maybe the Graupner showflyer but I've not ever seen one, just heard that people like them. Only thing is all these take smaller motors. The trouble with the ASP 80 is thats its a bit heavy, so you'll have to add tail weight which is never good. Other than that I'm not sure, maybe use the 80FS on another model!!

Yes I've seen the posts, and they are getting a little heated, It was my pals Hype that lost it's tail, my hype is still OK although I did make structural mods after hearing all the Horror stories, I also moved my rudder servo to the rear. I also have had many dispointments with the kit but I won't turn this thread into anti-Hype one as there are plenty of those
I've got a Magic, not as good as the Cougar I know but I get bored with it very quickly, maybe the cougar would be the same?
The Madness I like but it's quite costly, don't forget becuase we "try" and do syncronised flying we often fly very close to each other and run the risk of mid air collisions, we have already had some very minor ones.
Looks like we sticking to Hypes for now anyway. My Hype was originally flown with a Moki 52 and it was usless it only came alive after fitting the ASP 80FS.
Cheers
