Hi, this might be a dumb question, but here it goes. I'm looking for a 87" plane seriously considering lanier edge 540 or extra.
Can any one who has flown both tell me a little on plane tendencies, flight caracteristics hit or misses?
Thanks in advance for the help...

Personally I would buy a Wildhare over the Lanier... the Yak comes out very heavy and I am pretty sure the Edge and Extra do as well.
For 3" wingspan less and less money you will have a better flying plane. - Just my 2 cents
As far as flying... edge is going to do a lot of tumbling moves better and general 3D better. Extra is going to kill it on precision. In my mind an Extra is a better all around plane because it does 3D well too.

If you're going to put a 50cc engine on the front, (I use DA-50R's), the Wildhare planes win hands down. Those planes are built well, light, well thought out and they just fly and fly and fly. I have the extra and the ultimate and plan on getting the edge.

If you go with the Lanier, I would recommend a 3W-75i. More power, don't have to add any nose weight, bigger flies better. You can use the larger engine in another larger plane later, such as the Aeroworks YAK..... I've owned several Lanier planes, I've liked what I had, and would buy another.

I agree with Dan767, I have owned all of the Lanier Edges and think they fly fantastic. I think the 87" is underpowered as well with a 50cc on it. It rips with a 70-80cc....The Lanier planes go together very quickly.
