Default UCD Motor Please

I have read all the post on this plane
and I would like to know what the pros and cons are on a YS 91 or Saito 100
What should I put in my U-can-do 3D
(I am looking for 3-D power)

Thanks Rcman84341

I'd go with the Saito. Lighter and more than enough power for 3D. You just have to maintain it though as the bearing in the front can go out pretty fast especially when you hover and torque roll a lot. Inject lots of after run oil in the crank case vent and try to store your plane nose down so the oil runs to the front bearing. Also I use an APC 16x4W prop, plane flies slow but unlimited vertical.

Mecam, so did you have to send your 100 in to get the bearing replaced? Just wondering if you personally had a problem or noticed others that have. I have a Saito 100 on my UCD, haven't flown it yet though.

Yes. It happened to my .91 and 100. It was my fault, I was not injecting oil in the crankcase. I sold the .91 and I sent back the 100 for a warranty repair. Haven't had any problems since I've been oiling it properly.

So you think the front bearing was rusting up while sitting from not enough oil? I'll make sure and give it a liberal dose after flying! I've got some of that Ultra Oil that Dave Shadel sells.

That and also torque rolling and hovering for 7 minutes every flight just dried up the bearing I guess....

Yeah, I'm sure the engine was heating up some with all that hovering. So how well do you like your UCD?

with the saito try blocking the oil nipple at the back of the crankcase so the oil has to come out through the front bearing might be worth a try.

How about a YS 110. Lighter then a YS 91, stronger then a YS 120. Can't wait! I know, you guys what to fly this plane NOW! I do like that scheme for the UCD3D.

Default Hey RC Man

They should be released here in the states sometime in the fall. They have been released in Japan for a while now.
