I wouldn't ask "how many people think I will crash" You're setting your self up for failure if you do. If you think your skills are up to flying you'll probably fly it well but if you have doubts than maybe you should try the trainer out and see how you do with that first. As an instructor at our field I see lots of guys that come there and don't do well partly because they don't think they can't fly good enough. Negative thoughts are a killer. I don't want to throw out old cliches but that's a big part of it.

Get one of these first....

but buy two foamies... wear them out.. and this will make you a Trojan Gawd of 3D Flying!!!
Foamies are easy to build, easy to repair and in 10 minutes.. you get a lot of Stick Action!!!

If you dont want to buy a new plane to train on, I would do the buddy box with an experienced pilot with your weston groove until you are confident /have the skills to fly it on your own.

DO NOT fly the plane in level flight at more then half throttle. THE ONLY time you go to full throttle, it going straight up.
Low rates and keep a bit of throttle on landing. Pulling up on these type birds stalls the plane, not make it land like a trainer. You will be fine.

Mith is right!!
These planes are perhaps the BEST way to learn. I have seen Mith fly foam and gas, (is there anything else?). Trust me, he knows of what he speaks. Charger planes are, by far, the best foamies I have found for practicing any type of flying. I fly one every day and have for about a year.
One note; you can skimp on servos, although I think you should use Futaba 3114's; and you can skimp on RX and ESC, although I recommend Phoenix 25 and Berg 7. What you cannot compromise-on is power. Get a Hacker 20-26M, an APC 10 X 4.7 prop, and a THUNDER POWER 1320 3 cell lipo battery...er um like 5 of em. (Don't go larger than the Hacker 20-26M..it's not needed and will mess-up your performance).
Mith said buy 2...save on shipping and buy 4 of em. I recommend the CR-1 for starters and then the CR-260. Get 2 of each....they are very durable and easily repaired. By the time you have flown all 4 of them till they are just too messed-up to fly, you will be a 3D flyer. And YES, the skills transfer to gas and glow. It's just money that holds you back at that point,...trust me.
