My Dave Patrick Edge 540T arrived today! Looks like this one will give their Extra a run for its money! This plane is visually quite a bit more substantial than my Extra and seems like it might just be the lightweight king! Control surfaces look great and should allow for some extreme setups. The laser cut construction is awesome and the wing is set up for dual aileron servos if you want them! I'm thinking Moki or DA50, BME50, etc. on this one.

BEWARE..... My buddy was flying his this past weekend. It would drop a wing all of a sudden in flight. This happened several times without warning. As he was setting up to land, it happened several times. A strange and loud noise was heard each time it happened. He was able to save the plane and we looked it over very closely. We found that the forward band of color on the wing had come loose, but was still attached at each end. It was comming up and causing the wing to stall as it flapped in the air.
Make sure you seal everything down real well to avoid this in the future. His has a BME 44 on it and it ROCKS!!!! The plane flew great at 1/4 throttle. It's very light and looks good too. Have fun.

Alright, here are a few pictures -- I only have a couple as I need to get this thing packed away before my wife gets home!!!! I figure I'd better break the news softly rather than her coming home to a room full of airplane.

First of all, select few people, like me, happen to like yellow.
Secondly, Dave is getting some Chinese company to build and cover, as he indicates these were shipped from China. It's hard to believe that Ultracote would come off, so I think it could be a quality control issue for this new product: they need more QC at the shop =>
Could it be marketing strategy to promote the sales of his ARC's?

Come on! EVERYBODY likes 70's Pinto stripes on their Extra.... :rainfro:
Ok yeah the lame covering has got to go. He started out all right with the original Ultimate scheme and they just keep getting worse

Yeah, she took the news pretty good since I've been selling a lot of planes lately! Despite what a bunch of folks think, I really like the color scheme. All 3 colors are pearl colors and really look sharp in sunlight. I for one like yellow planes, heck, I drive a yellow Honda S2000 which is about the same shade as the Edge!

I CANCELED THE ORDER ON THIS PLANE, BUT I HAD BOUGHT A ROLL OF DARK PEARL YELLOW ULTRACOAT TO COVER THE GAPS. IT IS STILL IN THE WRAPPER. SEND ME AN EMAIL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AT [email protected].

Can somebody tell me what Dave Patricks website is.
also how do you think this plane will fly with either a moki 1.8 or 2.1. Or should I go gas with a 3W-48

Right now, I'm teetering between using a Brison 2.4 that I have sitting in front of me right now and will require some cutting out of the bottom of the cowl, or else I'm going to go with a Moki 1.80. This plane is so light, I think the 1.80 will be fine and will not suck as much fuel or weigh as much as the 2.10. I just don't know if I'm ready to wipe the glow fuel off every time I fly.
I fly at the Ft. Jackson flying club here in Columbia. I'm planning on bringing the Edge out this weekend both on Saturday and Sunday if the weather's okay to get everyone's opinion. Hopefully I will make up my mind as to a powerplant by the end of the weekend!

I was a member of Jackson Fliers club until the closing of Wildcat road. I can't handle the hassle of going through the main gate with a trailer, not to mention the additional driving miles because of that. Now I fly mostly at Congaree fliers and I'm a member of Kershaw County fliers in Camden, but rarely fly there.
You are welcome to visit the Congaree club in Gaston. I fly mostly giant scale aerobatic types. I'm learning 3D and fly some IMAC type pattern as well.
Drop me a line some time if you're interested in coming out. Lately I have only been flying one or two days a month, but in warm weather I'm out there most weekends.
