Servos for Twist 150

Question,
I am putting Futaba S3305 metal geared servos in my new Twist 150. They have 122 oz. an inch of torque on a 6V battery pack. Someone just told me that nylon gears for 3D are better. What servos are you using in your 3D planes of this size and are the metal gears going to wear out faster and be likely to fail as I've been told? I already have mine on the way from Tower Hobbies and I always thought metal was better than nylon. Please give me you honest opinions on this servo question. I guess I should of asked for advise before I bought the servos.
Thanks,
Gibbs

nylon will obviosly have a bit less slop.....bbbuuuuttttt..... metal gear servos are much stronger. i do not know of any nylon geared servos with as much torque.....plus they will strip if there is to much force over them....i went with all 5625's and 5945's in my showtime....130 oz/in and 185 oz/in....i think...they are definately overkill but at least will be usefull when i go to a bigger plane. they are digital super speed and didital mega torque or somethin...hitecs are awesome cuz their digitals are programmable...so i use them....so does RAMZ in his big 10cc extra 260. hes in our club and his plane flies awesome

Yep, metal gears for me too.
Big 3D control surfaces can put quite a load on servos (even due to hangar-rash) and a decent set of metal gears will hold up much better than nylon.
I still sometimes use nylon geared servos on ailerons but my tailfeathers are always metal geared.
Until I went to metal gears I stripped a few rudder servos doing tail-touches -- haven't had a problem since.
My Mojo 60 has metal-geared HS5925 servos (brilliant!) on the tail and nylon-geared Futaba 3010s (awfully sloppy right from day-one) on ailerons
Now I tend to use the hi-torque BlueBird/OEMed servos (Waypoint 1620MG) on the tail of my profiles. They seem to hold up well and aren't too badly priced. Don't bother with the hi-speed ones though (1621MG) , they're real rubbish.
Also steer clear of the cheap metal-geared TowerPro/Hextronic servos. The 995s are the worst servos I've ever seen, from the perspective of accuracy and reliability.
You can't go wrong with a good brand like Hitec (HS645/625) and if you want digital without breaking the bank then the HS5645/5625 are a good option. These can be had from places such as [link=http://www.servocity.com/html/hs-5625mg_digital_speed.html]ServoCity[/link] for around $55 a pop. Use them with a 5-cell pack and you'll get all the speed and power you'd ever want on a glow-powered 3D bird.

The 645s are a good strong servo but on anything short of a gaser I prefer a faster servo (the 645s are pretty slow).
I find it harder to do some maneuvers such as rolling harriers when using slower servos on the tail.
People are talking about having a "locked in" feeling when flying 2.4GHz because of the lower latency -- and we're talking about a difference of around 20 thousandths of a second.
The difference between a fast and a slow servo is as much as a tenth of a second or more -- you can see what effect that might have.

I used Hitec 5645MG on my 150 Twist
(digital, high torque, metal geard)
Gibbs: I think the rating on that servo the 3305
has been changed to : NOT FOR AIRCRAFT USE
I got caught in that screw up also and use my 3305
for throttles..[

Walt and Sage,
I already have them installed and they seem fine. Why would they be Not for Aircraft Use. I thought as long as they are high torque they should be fine. Tell me more. I can't find any documentation to the probem with using them in Aircraft.

Gibbs,
I think they will be OK...
Now it says: Cars, Boats and use with Ni Cad ONLY
Someone told me that they pull much more power
then most servos....

Who knows what is going on...
I am sticking with Futaba trans and receivers and Hi Tech servos
(for now anyways)
