Hi
I have just discovered this site so this is my first post
I am setting up a zn line madness and would like to know how others have got theirs set up.
I have a YS63 up front and Futaba 9 zap wc2 radio but there are no set up instructions, so
How far back is your CG?
How much movement on your surfaces at full rate?
How much on Dual rate?
Do you use ailerons as flaps coupled to elevators?
How much Expo do you use?
Do you use any other mixing?
Any comments will help
TIA
Mike

My Feedback: (3)
CG functions great at about 37% percent for great 3D and knife-edge is OK too. At 33-34% it flies very smoothly and still 3Ds greatly, but knife-edge is not good. I cannot tell you exactly where mine is, but probably between 37-40%. When the motor is cut, it will fall in a deep stall unless down elevator is given. That is how rear my CG is. No problems with stability.
Full rate:
Elevators- 50/55 degrees w/85% expo
Rudder- 50/55 degrees w/50% expo
Ailerons- 45 degrees w/85% expo
Low rate-Elevators 30 degrees w/40% expo
Rudder- 45 degrees w/30% expo
Ailerons-30 degrees w/40% expo
I have ailerons mixed with elevators for flaperon/spoileron. Down elevator/up flaps and up elevator/down flap. I do not know exactly what the ratios are but start small and work you way to larger amounts of flaperon/spoileron.
With that mixing and those throws, I can do just about everything with wow factor. Micro loops, waterfalls to the deck, hyper circles into flat ascending spins, flat spins upright and inverted, knife-edge spins, knife-edge weird stuff (it will not knife-edge loop), snap turn-abouts, walls, parachutes...
I also use the YS63 with a 14-4W APC. It's a little too long and the airplane cannot be landed with the motor running or take off from the ground with the stock landing gear set-up. Bigger wheels or a gear change or a 13-4w are necessary if you want to ROG (roll off ground).
Happy flying and many calm days,
Mark

COntact Nexus or track down the copy of RCME from ... err 2001 I think it was for a full review on the madness including set up and cg discussion.
John Clarke or Graham Ashby at Nexus on 01322 660070 should be able to help you with a back issue if necessary.
If I can find a copy I could send to you if you like, send me your email address
cheers

Check out the reviews under articles at www.rcaerosport.com
They have more rates and CoG areas.
