Default Funtana x100 / SPE 26

Has anyone had experience with a SPE 26 on a Funtana x100, and/or what do you think about this combo?

I have a CRRC PRO 26isp in my Funtana, and I'm less then impressed. Don't get me wrong, the engine is sweet. It starts and runs very well. However, it isn't strong enough for this type of plane. Now, the SPE26 might have more power, I don't really know. If it does, great, if not, I wouldn't bother.

That engine is weak. A friend of mine had two of them, ignition failed on the first one, got a second one and it happened again. When they run they can only spin a 17-6 at about 7500-7700 rpm`s.[:'(]
My MVVS 26 gasser with pipe spins 18-6 MenzS at 8600 rpm`s

That's very nice. When they become available in the United States again, if ever, we'll be sure and buy some. The last time I checked the only way we could get them was to bootleg them in through Canada.

Rcolle, I have a SPE26 engine with a CH ignition and a larger carb from one of my old 41cc engines, and presently after 2 gallons of gas, I am turning a Zoar 17-6 at 8900 rpm, and yes, stock muffler. I fly a 90-120 AW yak, at 10 lbs 2 oz which will be going A123's soon to save about 4-5 oz. I am going to order a 18-6 Zoar and see what the engine can turn. The plane has planty of power and pulls out of a hover and keeps going up, since thats the question everyone asks.

i think that the spe26cc too week for that size of planes, i power mine with an OS 120 AX and i think that combo work just great !
you should use 2/4 stroke NITRO engines for best preformans.
good luck with your choice.
cheers!
tamir.

If you really want to power it with one then get one of the BCMAs. They have much more power and a lot better service. Here's one of mine. This was the first tank through. Thing spins a Xoar 18x6 now.

My son took the engine to New York with him when he moved but as I recall it was at, or about the 7000 mark. I believe 50-100 either way. At 57 it's tough remembering where the bathroom is let alone a engine I tached 6 months ago. LOL I have a new one sitting on the bench. If I ever get around to putting it in a plane I'll tach it again. The BCMAs really are a nice, strong running little engine. I have one of the 40s in my 27% CAP and it rocks. Hey, you're in Bothell!!! You should come over and fly with us sometime!!!

There was a point were i was set on the evo26, but then i started reading about how it wasn't worth the money...bla bla.
The spe sure is cheaper though. Really, I've heard good and bad about all of the engines i've considered. You know what though, Any of these engines will be better than what I have on the funtana now...I was in such a hurry to get it flying, I mounted a .60 in it.

Al I would love too sometime. I just finished my H9 ultimate and hope to maiden on the 14th at cascade if the weather holds out.
Rcolle, I fly with a 10 oz tank, hard 3D for 12+ minutes and the gas tank still has about 2oz of fuel. I flew nitro for years and went to gas and thats all I fly now. Take Al's advise, BCME makes a good SPE26.
