After flying many smaller 3D planes (Morris, Goldberg Extreme, Global Freestyle, Magic etc) I got a UCD. WOW

The large size of the plane gives you that extra split second to add the correct control input. If you're flying 3D with the smaller planes you've got to get one of these.

Dittos. I flew mine yesterday for the first time. It feels like I am flying a piece of styrofoam, the plane is so nuimble and light.

30+ flights thus far

First 8-10 flights this weekend and other than some engine problems (now worked out) with the .91 FX it was great. I certainly proved I can land it dead stick.

I need to wear some of the "new" off it - increase the throws, and move the CG back, but it is already one of the best planes I have flown and one of the easiest to put together too.

I flew mine for the second time the other day, all was well until the last landing. Then the dreaded langing gear not very well built struck. Was rolling down the runway and they FELL OFF!??. Punctured both sides of the monocote on the underside with the back pointy sides of the wheel pants, had to patch it. I hope the patching does not affect the strength of the wing. I may remove the belly and put a strip of monocote all the way across into the patch area on both sides. No damage other than that. I am going to beef up the gear area with a piece of solid spruce block.

A guy at my field had his gear plate fall off with the gear attached and found there was nothing but a little hot glue holding it in.

I cut a hole in the top of the fuse above the gear (under canopy) and brushed epoxy all around the perimeter of the gear plate and former. Only 5 flights so far but I think it will hold up.

I found most ARF's need a little expoy around the gear and firewall. Saves lots of hassle later

Well, I am going to put a block, wrap it in fiberglass ribbon, AND drench it in epoxy in that spot.

i have an MDS 68 and a OS 108. Which one would U use and why?

No question I'd use the 108. More power. The 68 will fly the plane OK but I don't think it would wring it out.

I am assuming you bought the plane for 3D. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the 1.08. It's heavy but I don't think the 68 will have enough power. I don't have a 68, but I haven't heard of a UCD that will fly 3D with less than a .91

Sell both engines and get a Saito 100
