Been flying a tribute for a couple of months. Been using a 11-6 on my 46 to fly with. Plenty of power but doesn't seem to want to hover. Been hearing about 12-4 or even a 12.25-3.75 as the ultimate prop for this engine to hover. Where do I get one of these props? What about mounting a Saito 65, what prop then for 3d and will the tribute take it. Been thinking about a Mojo 40 for the Saito 65 and a Mojo 60 for my Saito 91, which prop?. What do you think?

OK, best hoverbatic prop for a .46 is a 12x4 Xoar or 12.25x3.75 APC
Now, anything below a Saito .72 is not going to be enough for a 40 size Mojo. I fly mine with the .82 and love it. Anything below a Saito .91 is going to be too small for the 60 size Mojo. I fly mine with a 100 and love it although there are some that are using a 125 with good results flying the Moass version.

Do NOT put anything larger than a .46 on the Tribute. Its fuselage is not designed for a larger engine. I reviewed the PNP version and it had plenty of power to hover with a Evolution 36. A 46 2 stroke should be plenty. I would say step up to a 12x4 and you should be fine.
The problem with putting larger engines on this plane is that the fuselage construction cant stand up to the forces generated by the mass of a larger engine. When you do violent spins and tumbles you can break the frame under the wing saddle. Dont misunderstand, the fuselage is PLENTY strong, but the plane just is not made for an engine that big. A Tribute with a .46 should perform like a Mojo 60 with a Saito 100. Anything more is overkill.
Definitely try the MOJO 60. I absolutely love mine.

I fly a Mojo 60 with a Saito 91, 14x6 or 15x4w. The 91 is plenty for a 5 1/2 lb plane for me. I have a Mojo 40 with an OS 50, 12.25x3.75 prop. I have a Saito 100 on a Razoryak, 15x6 prop. And a Saito 125 on a 8 lb Mojo 65, 16x6 prop. I have never felt the need for more engine on any of these planes with the Saitos. The Mojo 40 with the OS 50 feels a little weak sometimes. My next project will be a Mojo 60 with the Moass mod.

Since no one mentioned it, you can get APC props online at many places, Tower Hobbies, for instance. And most of them will even ship to Idaho!
Xoar props are lighter, spool faster and produce gobs of thrust....but they are a little harder to find. You can get them at www.swanyshouse.com or www.texas-hobbies.com.
