Default New to outrunners

I am new to outrunner motors. I am mostly a truck guy but I am doing an outrunner experiment. And i would like to have a little more knowledge about outrunner motors. I am trying to pick a motor and don't know if I should base my decision on length or width. Which is more importent when it comes to torque, speed, and cogging (not sure if that would be a plane term).

All help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
